Oracle Master Scheduling/MRP and Oracle Supply Chain Planning Documentation Updates
This document contains important information. Please read this section for the latest updates, revisions, and additions to your user's guide.
Overview of Reviewing Planning Information
Resources for a plan can be viewed from the Planner Workbench window by choosing a button to display the Resources window. This window specifies a plan's resources by department or line. In this window you can also choose buttons to review a resource's items, availability, requirements, and horizontal plans.
With this addition, the other windows accessed from the Planner Workbench also contain a button to display the Resources window.
In previous releases there was a Status button on the Planner Workbench window that displayed the Plan Status window. That window is now accessed through the Special menu.

Generating a Graphical Display of Planning Data
In order to view graphical presentations of your planning data in the Horizontal Material Plan and Horizontal Capacity Plan windows, you must have a browser installed on your computer.

Auto-release Planned Orders
Settings on the Planner Workbench Preferences window are used as defaults for automatically released planned orders. The
Supply/Demand region of the Preferences window contains values for Job Status and Job Class for a user. These preferences are used in the process of automatically releasing planned orders.
See: Auto-release Planned Orders, Oracle Master Scheduling/MRP and Oracle Supply Chain Planning User's Guide Auto-release Planned Orders
Capable to Promise (CTP)
In previous releases the inventory profile option, INV - Capable to Promise, was a Yes/No flag for the Capable to Promise feature. In Release 11 this flag has been replaced by three values:
- Enable Product Family ATP and CTP
- Enable Product Family ATP
In previous releases the Available to Promise (ATP) Rule was associated with an item. Now in Release 11 the ATP Rule can also be associated with a department and resource combination. This is set in the Oracle Bills of Materials Resource window, or a line as set in the Oracle Work In Process Production Lines window.
The following settings apply to the CTP function:
- For items that are not Assembled to Order (non-ATO), the ATP settings of Resource Only, and Material and Resource are not allowed.
- Multiple CTP routings are not allowed for an item/organization combination.
- A value is required for Past Due Demand/Supply Time Fence on an ATP Rule associated with a Resource.

Enabling the Memory-based Planning Engine
Disregard this section. In Release 11, the Memory-based Planning Engine no longer is a process that requires enabling.

Calculation Formula
There are several changes in Calculation Formula description in the Overview of Kanban Planning section:
- The standard calculation formula for kanban planning has been corrected. The calculation formula was listed as:.
(C - 1) * S = D * (L + SSD) where SSD is the Safety Stock Days
- The order modifier Supply Days has been changed to Safety Stock Days.
- In the modifier example, replace the second S value with a C value. Currently the paragraph section reads as follows:
For example, suppose you've specified the Minimum Order Quantity for a particular item to be 50. You want the formula to calculate the kanban size (S), so you enter values for S, D, and L.
Instead, it should read as follows:
For example, suppose you've specified the Minimum Order Quantity for a particular item to be 50. You want the formula to calculate the kanban size (S), so you enter values for C, D, and L.

Identifying Capacity Problems
In the procedure defining how to create exception sets, Step 3 reads as follows:
- Attach the exception set to the list resources by setting the Exception Set attribute in Define Department window in Oracle Bills of Material and Oracle Work in Process.
Instead, the wording should be as follows:
- Attach the exception set to the resource by choosing the Exception Set in the Resources window in Oracle Bills of Material, and the Production Lines window in Oracle Work in Process.
