What is Internet File System?
Oracle Internet File System, or iFS, is a Java-based repository supervisor and application development environment.
  • iFS views the Oracle database as if it were a file system.
  • iFS replaces many complex tasks usually performed by an operating system.

iFS adds these new features to the Oracle 8i database:

  • iFS accesses the repository via standard protocols such as HTTP, FTP, and IMAP4.
  • iFS seamlessly integrates with Windows Explorer and Network Neighborhood.
  • iFS supports the Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers.
