This is a text description of ldapsvri.gif, which shows an Oracle Internet Directory instance. From left to right, the diagram shows a group of clients on the leftmost side. These clients are communicating with the Oracle Internet Directory listener. (Note: some artistic license has been taken with this diagram to focus on Oracle Internet Directory. In a real implementation, the client requests would go to the HTTP listener, which in turn would direct it to the directory.) Once the Oracle Internet Directory listener receives a client request, then it sends the request to an available Oracle Directory Server instance. The Oracle Internet Directory Server instance then routes the request to the Oracle9iAS Metadata Repository, where user identity entries are stored, and which is located at the rightmost side of the diagram. The communication between the Oracle Internet Directory Servers and the metadata repository takes place over Oracle Net. The Oracle Internet Directory listener, servers, and metadata repository are all part of the Oracle9iAS Infrastructure.
