Next, Oracle Universal Installer displays the Select Installation Type page. Use this page to select the installation type you want to upgrade. To upgrade a 10g (9.0.4) or 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) Metadata Repository Only installation, select OracleAS Metadata Repository. To upgrade a 10g (9.0.4) or 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) colocated Infrastructure, select Identity Management and Oracle Metadata Repository.
No matter which of these installation types you select, Oracle Universal Installer will install a new 10g (10.1.4.0.1) Oracle home and upgrade your existing database to a supported version.
