Creating Function Space Product Features for the Opportunity Screen's Function Agenda


Administrators can define features for function space product lines so that they can be specified when entering an opportunity's function agenda. The features specified for the function agenda are then used to select the most appropriate function space during the create quote best fit process.

For example, several function spaces at a property have exactly the same Room Area, Setup Style, and Expected Attendees values. However, only one of the function spaces (Salon A) has a south-facing view. If South View is specified as a feature in the opportunity's function agenda, the create quote best fit process will only return Salon A as the function space for the booking.

When the create quote best fit process is launched, it first examines categories to check whether the specified feature has been associated with a category. If the feature has not been associated with a category, the process then checks specific spaces.

After creating a product feature, you must associate it with the appropriate categories or specific spaces so that the create quote best fit process will know which space to match to the booking. To accomplish this, perform the steps in the following procedures.

This task is a step in Managing Function Spaces, Sleeping Rooms, and Categories as Products.

To create a product feature

  1. Navigate to the Administration - Product screen > Product Features list.
  2. In the Product Features list, add a new record.
  3. In the Product Line field, click the select button and add Function Space as the value.
  4. Step off the record to save your information.
  5. Navigate to the Opportunities screen > Function Agenda view.
  6. In the Function Agenda list's Feature field, the Function Space features you added should now be displayed as options in the drop-down list.

To associate a product feature with a specific space or category

  1. Navigate to the Administration - Products screen > Products list.
  2. In the Products list, query for a specific space or category.
  3. Drill down on the Name field value to navigate to the Product Key Features list.
  4. In the Product Key Features list, create a new record.
  5. Select a product feature from the Feature drop-down list.

    NOTE:  When defining the key features for the function space, you must choose features with a Function Space product line if the space is to match function agenda feature requirements.

  6. Step off the record to save your information.

    The product feature is now associated with the specific space or category.
