Authenticating a SMTP Server

This security method uses two new driver parameters:

  • SMTP Account Name
  • SMTP Account Password

If these two new parameters are specified, an attempt will be made to execute the AUTH LOGIN command at the start of the SMTP session. If the AUTH LOGIN command fails, the session will be terminated, a log file error message will be generated, and the message send will fail. The driver will not consider this to be a permanent fatal error, so the OutboundCommMgr existing retry logic will apply and another attempt will be made to send the message at a later date.
