Localizing Web Catalog Text Strings
For organizations that need to localize text strings in the Web Catalog, this section explains how to export the text strings for translation, and then import the text strings when translation is complete.
The export and import processes are based on Extensible Markup Language (XML). You can optionally use an Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT) style sheet to transform the XML output and XML input.
To export Web Catalog text strings
- Use Analytics Catalog Manager to open the Web Catalog that contains the text strings to be localized, and then choose Tools > Localization > Export.
- If you want to use an XSLT style sheet, in the Localization Export window, browse to select the XSLT style sheet.
- Browse to select the location to which the output will be written, and then click OK.
The export process may take several minutes.
- When the export process is complete, deliver the output file to your localization team.
To import Web Catalog text strings
- Use Analytics Catalog Manager to open the Web Catalog that the localized text strings will be imported into, and then choose Tools > Localization > Import.
- In the Import From field, browse to select the location that contains the XML file to be imported.
The import process will determine the language from the XML file and store the string in the proper location in the Web Catalog.
- If you want to override the language specified in the XML file, type the language extension to use from the following list.
NOTE: If a message appears during import operations indicating that an XML syntax error was detected, open the XML file in a Web browser. The browser should parse the file and indicate the nature of the error. Correct the error and try the import operation again.
- When the import is completed, choose File >Save to save the Web Catalog that now contains the localized strings.
