Working with Stop Steps


Stop steps are used to raise an error to the user and terminate the workflow process instance.

The main parts of creating a stop step for a workflow process are:

Table 29 describes how the Stop step is handled, depending on how it is called and in which object manager it is running.

Results
Workflow policy calls a process that contains a Stop step.
 
Workflow Process Manager:
  • Exits
  • Writes an error message to the log file.
A script or runtime event calls a process that contains a Stop step.
  • Process is running in the Workflow Process Manager object manager.
Workflow Process Manager:
  • Writes an error message to the log file.
  • Process is running in the application object manager.
Workflow Process Manager:
  • Flags an error message to the user.
