How This Guide Is Organized
This book attempts to present information roughly in the sequence in which you are likely to need it for performing the tasks described. The book chapters address:
- Overview information
- Basic communications configuration information, including defining communications configurations, creating profiles for communications drivers, and so on
- Advanced communications and user interface configuration information, including configuring events and commands, configuring the communications toolbar, configuring recipient groups for outbound communications, modifying List of Values types, and so on
- Enabling communications and simulation, and operations relating to server components, such as configuring and running the server components
- End user operations for general users or call center users, including setting preferences and using the communications toolbar and menu commands
- End user operations for more advanced users: working with communications templates and outbound communication requests
NOTE: End users are not expected to be actual end users of this book, although much information presented here is of relevance to them.
Appendixes contain information about supporting specific kinds of communications systems, such as CTI middleware, email servers, wireless messaging, and so on. For CTI, Siebel Systems provides the module Siebel CTI Connect. For wireless messaging, Siebel Systems provides the module Siebel Wireless Messaging. This material is followed by information about developing custom drivers using the Adaptive Communications API, using Communications Server business services, and upgrading from a previous version.
