Customizing Data Filters for Siebel Service Handheld

CAUTION:  It is strongly recommended that you consult Siebel Technical Support or Siebel Expert Services before you modify the filters or the business component relationships and that you work with a Siebel Product Manager during the initial deployment of your application.

The Siebel Service Handheld application is configured to filter a specific subset of data using a combination of CFGs, QBEs, and PDQs. Therefore, you need to thoroughly understand the preconfigured application and the relationship between the screens and views. The interrelationship between the business components is very complex and, therefore, a change to those relationships could result in the exclusion of data that is required by the application. Many views are drill-down only views that are only accessible from other prescribed views, and the application assumes that certain data is available. For example, the SHCE Service FS Measurement Readings View is a drill-down view. If the business component relationships are modified so that the asset measurements data is not downloaded, you will not be able to access the Measurements Readings view.

Without the correct data, your users will not be able to generate transactions, effectively rendering the application unusable. It is strongly recommended that you start with the preconfigured software and modify it as necessary, rather than creating an entirely new configuration. You may modify the QBE and PDQ filters. For example, you can change these to query for different statuses, dates, and values. Be aware, however, that modifications to these filters typically result in more data, longer synchronization times, and slower device performance.
