Importing the Knowledge Base File


You import the KB File into a catalog in the Catalog Administration screen. The catalog name must be the same value in the following three places:

Before you can import the KB file into your KB catalog, you must copy the KB file to a specific location in the Siebel File System. To import the KB file into your KB catalog, perform the following tasks:

To copy the KB file into the Siebel File System

  1. Navigate to Server Administration > Enterprise Configuration.
  2. The Enterprise Configuration list appears.

  3. Click the Enterprise Parameters tab, and query for FileSystem.
  4. The value in this parameter shows you the location of the Siebel File System.

  5. Copy the KB file to the Siebel File System's \cms root directory.

To import the KB catalog and categories

  1. Navigate to Site Map > Catalog Administration.
  2. The Catalogs list appears.

  3. Click the More Info view tab and in the More Info form, click New.
  4. Use the table below to complete the necessary fields.
  5. The table shows only those fields that are used for Smart Answer.

  6. Step off the record to save it, and click Smart Answer Import.
  7. The KB file and its categories have been imported into your catalog file.

    Required. Name of the KB catalog that you used when you enabled the Smart Answer server component.

    Smart Answer Catalog File
    Type. The KB filename without the .kb file extension.
