Migrating Customizations Using the Web Client Migration Wizard

The following section describes how to use the Web Client Migration Wizard to migrate your customized and new applets and views.

NOTE:  For information about using the Web Layout Wizard, see Siebel Tools Reference.

To migrate customizations to applets and views if grid layout is set up

  1. After the application upgrade has been completed, import the grid-based template, gridlayout.sif, from the objects subdirectory in your Siebel Tools installation directory.

For more information about setting up the grid layout, see Siebel Tools Reference.

  2. Go to the Application Upgrade Object List View in Siebel Tools. In Siebel Tools, select Screens > Application Upgrader > Application Upgrade Object List.
  3. Invoke the Web Client Migration Wizard. In Siebel Tools select Tools > Upgrade > Web Client Migration.

If grid layout is set up, new form applets automatically migrate to the grid layout. Modified applets do not migrate to the grid layout.

The model applet selection screen appears.

CAUTION:  If a warning message appears, then grid layout is not set up. Click Cancel to exit the Web Client Migration wizard, and return to Step 1 to set up the grid layout. When you are ready to continue, restart the Web Client Migration wizard.

If grid layout is not set up, the following warning appears:

WARNING: For higher fidelity migration of Form Applets, click Cancel and import the file 'gridlayout.sif' as described in the Release Notes.

  4. Select the types of applets and views that you want to migrate to the Web layout:
    • New applets
    • New views
    • Modified applets
    • Modified views
  5. On the same screen, select the operation Convert Applets and Views.

    To continue, click Next.

NOTE:  If you select the operation to Mark Applets and Views, no migration occurs. The wizard simply places a mark in the comment field of the selected types of applets and views: TBMN (to be migrated new, for new applets) or TBMM (to be migrated modified, for modified applets).

  6. On the next screen of the wizard, model applets for each applet type are selected. You may accept the recommended default values or select an alternate value.

NOTE:  By default, the maximum number of visible list columns is 40.
Also by default, the option to Skip Applets that are already Web enabled is selected. This option preserves prior customizations if you have an existing customer application that uses Web templates.

    To continue, click Next.

  7. On the next screen of the wizard, select a model view for each category of view:
    • View with one applet
    • View with two or more applets
    • Views containing tree applets

Any view of the appropriate category may be used as a model view. The information used by the Web Client Migration wizard includes the templates to be used and the applet modes to use for the View Web Template Items.

NOTE:  By default, the option to Skip Views that are already Web enabled is selected. This option preserves prior customizations if you have an existing customer application that uses Web templates.

  8. To start the Web Client Migration Wizard, click Next.

When the wizard completes, the following comments are appended to the Comments field to indicate migrations that occurred.

    • MigN.Indicates new applets or views that have been migrated.
    • MigM. Indicates modified applets or views that have been migrated.
