Bidding on a Sealed-Bid Auction
In a Sealed-bid auction, you can see only the bids that you have made. All other bid information is hidden, including which bidder is winning the auction.
Any other auction except for a Dutch auction can also be a Sealed-bid auction. The bids in a Vickrey or Reverse Vickrey are automatically sealed. Also, because Vickrey and Reverse Vickrey auctions only accept single-quantity items, the Accept Partial Quantities field will not appear for those auction types.
To place a bid on a Sealed-bid auction
- Navigate to the Auction Item Detail screen for the Sealed-bid auction item.
- From the Place Bid form, enter the amount of your bid in the My Bid field.
NOTE: There is no AutoBid for Vickrey, Reverse Vickrey, and other Sealed-bid auctions.
- In the My Quantity field, enter the number of items on which you want to bid.
- If you will accept less than the quantity you entered in the My Quantity field, click to check Accept Partial Quantities.
NOTE: The Accept Partial Quantities field does not display if the quantity is one.
- Click Place Bid.
If your bid was entered correctly, it is entered into the auction and the auction is added to your My Auctions screen.
