Bidding Scenario for EnforceExactBidIncrement = FALSE
This example illustrates the bidding rules used when a multiple-quantity auction is auctioned with a English bid type using
EnforceExactBidIncrement
= FALSE. In this example, one bidder uses the AutoBid feature and has chosen to accept less than the full quantity requested in the bid if the full quantity is not available.Note how the following properties have been set in the S_SYS_PREF table:
eAuc:EnforceExactBidIncrement
= FALSEeAuc:BidTimeTieBreakOption
= 1eAuc:AutobidToReservePrice
= FALSEThis auction is a multiple-quantity auction for 10 items. The Minimum Quantity of items the lister will sell is one. The starting bid is set at $100, the bid increment is set at $7, and the bid is not sealed.
The bidding for this auction is shown in the following tables ordered by first bid, second bid, third bid, and so on. The first part of Table 38 shows the user's bid; the second part of the table shows the result of that bid.
Bid Summary: Mary's $1999 AutoBid amount is accepted because with
eAuc:EnforceExactBidIncrement
set to FALSE, the amount does not have to be in $7 increments from the starting bid.Table 39 lists the results from the second bid in the auction.
Bid Summary: Don enters a Maximum bid of $1500 for the full quantity of items in this auction (10) and will not accept less than 10 items. Mary's AutoBid raises her bid to $1500 to win the one item on which she previously bid. Note that this auction uses Timestamp Option 1 (TS01).
Mary wins one item at $1500, while Don wins nothing.
Table 40 lists the results from the third bid in the auction.
Bid Summary: Don places another bid for $1998, this time bidding for only two items in the auction and choosing to accept available quantity instead of the entire ten items. He wins two items. Note that Don's bid was accepted even though it was not an exact multiple of the Bid Increment.
Auction Results Summary: At the end of the auction, Mary wins one item for $1500 and Don wins two items for $1500 each.
