Configure the general resource pool information for plain Agents

Before you begin

Review Configure and manage Agents and Configure the resource pool for an Agent.

The General tab on the Resource Pools page enables you to configure IP addresses and network interfaces for communicating with the resource pool on which you can deploy the WLOC services. You configure the general properties of the resource pool initially when you create an Agent using the WLOC Configuration Wizard, as described in Configuring the Controller and Agents.

To configure the general properties of the resource pool for a plain Agent:

  1. Access the Agent page in one of the following ways:
    • Click the Inventory tab in the WLOC navigation bar, expand the Agents list in the Inventory pane, and click the name of the Agent.
    • Click the Agents tab in the WLOC navigation bar and click the name of the Agent that you want to configure in the Agents table.
    • Click the Home tab in the WLOC navigation bar, click Agents under Manage Configuration, and click the name of the Agent that you want to configure in the Agents table.
  2. Click the Resource Pool tab on the Agent page.
  3. Click the General tab to modify the following general properties for the resource pool, as required:
    Field Description

    Description

Description of the resource pool. This field is optional.

    CPU Capacity

Maximum amount of CPU capacity (in normalized megahertz) available to the resource pool.

    IP Addresses

IP addresses that are associated with the resource pool. (See note below.)

    Network Interfaces

Network interfaces that are associated with the resource pool. (See note below.)

    Standard Out Directory

Directory to which standard out log files are written. This field defaults to BEAHOME\user_projects\agentname\stdout.

    Standard Error Directory

Directory to which standard error log files are written. This field defaults to BEAHOME\user_projects\agentname\stderr.

The name of the resource pool cannot be modified after the Agent is created using the WLOC Configuration Wizard.

Note: WLOC resolves the configured IP addresses and network interfaces in the following manner:

    • If both IP addresses and network interfaces are specified, WLOC validates the specified IP addresses against the configured network interfaces. A validation failure results in a configuration error.

    • If IP addresses are specified but network interfaces are not, WLOC validates the specified IP addresses on any of the network interfaces bound on the machine on which the Agent is running. A validation failure results in a configuration error.

    • If network interfaces are specified but IP addresses are not, WLOC makes available all of the IP addresses in each of the configured network interfaces.

    • If neither IP addresses nor network interfaces are specified, WLOC makes available all of the IP addresses in all of the network interfaces bound on the machine on which the Agent is running.

  4. Click Save.
The resource pool configuration is updated and the following confirmation message is displayed:
    Settings updated successfully

After you finish
