Review View and configure log and audit messages.

The WLOC Administration Console displays log and audit messages for the Controller only. It does not display log or audit messages for Agents or files that have been rotated (see Rotate log or audit files).

To view both Agent and Controller log and audit messages, open the log files in the file system using a text editor. By default, log and audit files are saved to the following directories:

Note: BEA recommends that you not modify log files by editing them manually. Modifying a log file changes the timestamp and can impact log file rotation. In addition, editing a file might lock it and prevent updates from the Controller or Agent.

To view log and audit messages for the Controller from the WLOC Administration Console:

  1. Access the Controller page in one of the following ways:
    • Click the Controller tab in the WLOC navigation bar.
    • Click the Home tab in the WLOC navigation bar and click Controller under Manage Configuration.
  2. Click the Logs tab.
  3. Click the name of the log that you want to view in the Logs table.

The Log Contents page displays up to 500 messages in reverse chronological order. The messages at the top of the window are the most recent messages that the server has generated. The Log Contents page does not display messages that have been rotated into archive log files. For more information, see Rotate log or audit files.

The following information is displayed for each message:

    • Date: Date that the message was generated.
    • Subsystem: Subsystem that generated the message.
    • Message ID (MSGID): Message ID.
    • Message: Details of the message.
    • Severity: Severity of the message.
  4. To filter the list of messages enter a query file name in the Query Filter field and click Filter.

For information about constructing a query, see WLDF Query Language.

  5. Click Previous or Next to navigate through the pages of messages.
