Granting the Log On as a Service Right Under Windows NT

This Domain account must also have the Log On as a service right. Members of the Administrators group do not have this right by default. If the cluster controllers are running under a Windows NT operating system, grant the Log On as a service right explicitly to this account on each computer using the following method.

To grant the Log On as a service right under Windows NT

  1. Choose Start > Programs > Administrative Tools (Common) > User Manager. This opens the User Manager window.
  2. From the Policies menu, choose the option User Rights. This opens the User Rights Policy window.
  3. Select the option Show Advanced User Rights and, from the drop-down list, select the Log On as a service right. Click Add. This opens the Add Users and Groups window.
  4. In the List Names From drop-down list, select the domain the account is in, and then click Show Users.
  5. Locate the account in the list and click Add. The domain and account should be shown in the Add Names window.
  6. Click OK to return to the User Rights Policy window, which shows the Log On as a service right, and the domain and account in the Grant To window.
  7. Click OK to return to the User Manager window and close the window.
