Creating the Disconnected Web Catalog
The Disconnected Web Catalog can submit requests only to the disconnected repository. If the subject area, table, and column names are identical in the disconnected and network-based Siebel Analytics repositories, the Disconnected Web Catalog can be a duplicate of the network-based Siebel Analytics Web Catalog or a copy scaled for single use. When Siebel Disconnected Analytics reads the catalog, it optimizes it for a single disconnected use. For example, the mobile user's personal folders are maintained but changes made to shared folders are overwritten by the contents of the Siebel Analytics Web Catalog.
NOTE: Web Catalog changes made by mobile users are not uploaded to the Siebel Analytics Web Catalog.
To create a disconnected Web Catalog, use the following guidelines:
- After you create the disconnected repository, use it to test and modify the disconnected dashboards using Siebel Analytics Web. Disconnected dashboards are saved in the disconnected Web Catalog.
- It is recommended that the Presentation layer object names in the disconnected repository should match Presentation layer object names in the Siebel Analytics repository. If they do not, you must build the disconnected Web Catalog based on the disconnected repository.
- To create the disconnected Web Catalog, use one of the following methods:
- Use the network version of the Web Catalog (typical method). If you maintained the network version of the Presentation layer names and structure in the disconnected repository, the Web Catalog integrates more smoothly with the disconnected environment. To use this method, make a copy of your network Web Catalog, remove unnecessary items to make it more relevant for the disconnected user, and copy it to the application directory.
NOTE: You might want to rename the disconnected Web Catalog file to differentiate it from the network-based Web Catalog.
- Use a new Web Catalog. If you decide not to use the network-based Siebel Analytics Web Catalog, then start with a blank Web Catalog. To use this method, open Siebel Analytics Web. When it does not find a Web Catalog, it creates one by default. You can use this empty Web Catalog to start your disconnected application.
