Creating and Managing Templates

Templates are HTML documents that you can use as a basis for your campaign emails. A new template is saved to your workspace, but you must publish it to an ESN before other members of the ESN can use it. For more information on publishing content to an ESN, see Publishing Content.

When you create a campaign email, you can select a template and then use the HTML Editor to modify the template as necessary. For more information on the HTML Editor, see Using the HTML Editor.

A template has no recipients and cannot be sent or tested until it has been inserted in a campaign. A template might include your company logo and other standard information such as your company's address and other product or sales-related text. Templates can also include merge fields, conditional content, and additional links. For information on supported HTML tags and attributes, see Using Valid HTML Tags.

Note: Make sure that you have all the necessary rights to use the content in the library. For more information on content responsibility, see Getting Started with Oracle CRM Sales Campaigns On Demand.

To create a template by using existing library content

  1. In the I Want To section of the Oracle CRM Sales Campaigns On Demand home page, click Create a template, or click the Library tab and click New Template.
    The HTML Editor appears.
  2. Click Select Template.
The Library view appears, showing the available content in a carousel.
  3. Browse the carousel to find content.
  4. To use the content shown at the front of the carousel, click Insert in Template.

The selected content appears in the HTML Editor.

  5. In the Template Name field, type a name for this template.
  6. Optionally, add a description to the Description field.
  7. Use the HTML Editor to add or edit content. For more information, see Using the HTML Editor.
  8. To save your template, click Save.
  9. Optionally, to insert an image from the library, click Select Image.

The Library view appears, showing the available images in a carousel.

  10. Do one of the following:
    • Browse the carousel to find an image.
    • To use the image shown at the front of the carousel, click Insert in Template.

The selected image opens in the HTML Editor.

    • Use the controls at the edges of the image to adjust the size and scale of the image.

Tip: To keep the proportions unchanged, hold down the Control key while dragging the controls at the corner of the image.

  11. Use the HTML Editor to enter and format text.
  12. To save your template, click Save.

Note: You can also create a template by pasting content from outside Oracle CRM Sales Campaigns On Demand directly into the HTML Editor. However, some restrictions apply. For more information, see Using the HTML Editor.

Note: The maximum size for a template is 32 kilobytes (KB). You cannot save a template that exceeds this size.

The following procedure describes how to edit a template.

To edit a template

  1. On the Oracle CRM Sales Campaigns On Demand home page, click the Library tab.
  2. In the carousel, select a template and click Edit.

The campaign opens for editing in the HTML Editor. For more information, see Using the HTML Editor.
For information on deleting templates or images, see Deleting Content from the Library.

Note: You cannot edit templates or images that have been published to an ESN or have been used in a campaign.
