Windows 2000 Server and Advanced Server on x86 with WebLogic Platform 7.0

Provides full support for WebLogic Server and WebLogic Integration, and run-time support for WebLogic Workshop and WebLogic Portal. See below for Design and Development Tools support.


 

Note: The version of WebLogic Server included with WebLogic Platform 7.0 GA is version 7.0.0.1. It contains updates to the WebLogic Server 7.0 GA version (7.0.0.0). Support information that applies only to WebLogic Server 7.0 GA is identified below.

Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2000 Advanced Server, no patches required (32-bit)

Chip Architecture and Minimum Processor Speed

Xeon, Pentium II or higher, x86, and compatible chip architectures (400 MHz)

SDK

WebLogic JRockit 7.0 (J2SE 1.3.1) and all later service packs of WebLogic JRockit

Supported on WebLogic Server 7.0 only.

Sun Java 2 SDK 1.3.1_03 and all later service packs of 1.3.1

Bundled with BEA WebLogic Platform and installed, automatically, under the BEA Home directory.

Sun Java 2 SDK 1.3.1_02 with Java HotSpotTM Client VM and all later service packs of 1.3.1

Supported on WebLogic Server 7.0 only.

Design and Development Tools

JVM Heap Size Limitation

Although the JVM allows you to set heap size to values exceeding 2 GB, memory fragmentation and other Windows memory requirements typically limit the maximum contiguous address space available for Java applications to approximately 1.4 - 1.6 GB. IBM 1.3.1 VM Known Issues

There are RMI/IIOP ClassCastExceptions with WebLogic Server 7.0 with the Windows 2000 Server and the Advanced Server. This problem is fixed in WebLogic Server 7.0 SP1. For more information, contact Customer Support and specify CR082937.

There are jDriver classloading problems with WebLogic Server 7.0 with the Windows 2000 Server and the Advanced Server. This problem is fixed in WebLogic Server 7.0, SP01. For more information, contact Customer Support and specify CR082936.
