Supported Configurations for WebLogic Platform 8.1
This section lists configuration components that are supported by WebLogic Platform 8.1 and WebLogic Server 8.1:
This section lists Web servers supplied by third-party vendors that are supported by WebLogic Platform 8.1. Web server plug-ins, delivered with WebLogic Server, enable WebLogic Platform to communicate with applications that have been deployed on a different Web server. For details about the Web server plug-ins, see Using Web Server Plug-Ins With WebLogic Server at the following URL:

Table 2-1 lists the supported Web servers and the operating systems on which they can be run. The Web server does not need to be running on the same machine as WebLogic Platform 8.1.
Note: The operating systems listed may not be supported on all releases of WebLogic Platform 8.1. To determine whether an operating system is supported for a particular release of WebLogic Platform or WebLogic Server 8.1, see List of Supported Operating System Configurations.

Browsers are used for a variety of purposes, including:
In general, WebLogic Platform supports the use of any browser to enable end-user access to applications with the following restrictions:
Note: If you use a browser version that is not listed as a supported browser in the following sections, you may experience functional or formatting problems.
Browser support for WebLogic Platform is dependent on the browser version and the Java plug-in for applet support.
The following list summarizes browser support for the WebLogic Platform consoles:
Note: The WebLogic Integration Administration Console is supported only on Windows using either Netscape 7.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 and later service packs.
In the Online Help provided with the WebLogic Workshop IDE and the Configuration Wizard, the search function is provided by a Java applet. This applet requires a Java Plug-In. If you do not have such a Java Plug-In installed on your system and you want to use the search function with the Online Help for the Workshop IDE or Configuration Wizard, you must install the Java Plug-In.
If you are working on a Microsoft Windows platform, the first time you initiate a search in the Online Help for one of these tools, you are prompted to download and install the Plug-In. If you are working on any other operating system, see the instructions in "Installing the Java Plug-In for Online Help Search" in the WebLogic Platform Release Notes.
Note: When using Internet Explorer, Java plug-in 1.1 or higher must be installed to enable you to use the Administration Console.
The following table summarizes browser support for applets.
WebLogic Platform 8.1 and any 8.1 service packs support network devices, such as firewalls, that properly support network protocols and the 7-Layer Network Model. BEA will perform root cause analysis on interaction problems between WebLogic Platform and network devices, and it will address WebLogic Platform product issues as appropriate, but it cannot address network address issues.
