Uniform distributed topics - configure targets

Use this page to deploy a uniform distributed topic on selected JMS servers in a server instance, all JMS servers in a server instance, or on all JMS servers in a cluster. Uniform distributed topics depend on the JMS servers they are targeted to for the management of persistent messages, durable subscribers, and message paging.

You can also associate a uniform distributed destination with a configured SubDeployment. A SubDeployment is a mechanism by which JMS module resources (such as queues, topics, and connection factories) are grouped and targeted to a server resource (such as JMS servers, server instances, or cluster).

Caution: Changing the targets of a uniform distributed destination can lead to the removal of a member destination and the unintentional loss of messages.

To target uniform distributed topics:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the Administration Console, navigate to the uniform distributed topic resource that you want to configure:
  3. Click the Targets tab.
  4. In the SubDeployments field, select a SubDeployment to associate with the uniform distributed topic. When a SubDeployment is selected, its targeted JMS servers appear as selected in the Target box..
  5. In the Target box:
    1. In the Server section, select each server instance on which you want to deploy the uniform distributed topic.
    2. In the JMS Server section, select each JMS server on which you want to deploy the uniform distributed topic.
    3. In the Cluster section, select each cluster on which you want to deploy the uniform distributed topic.

Note: The Cluster section is available only when the uniform distributed topic is part of a clustered WebLogic Server environment.

  6. Save your changes:
  7. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
