Access Root Level policies

Before you begin

This subtask is part of the main task for creating a security policy. Start with the main task: Create security policies

Root level policies apply to all resource instances for a specified resource type. For example, you can create a root level policy that applies to any server added to the WebLogic domain, or a root level policy that applies to all EJBs (or any other resource type). Root level policies allow you to define default global roles that can be overridden for any resource instance. In other words, any security policy that you apply to a specific resource instance takes precedence over the root-level policy. WebLogic provides default root level policies for most resources. For more information, see Default Security Policies

To access root level security policies:

  1. In the left panel of the Administration Console select Security Realms.
  2. On the Security Realms Summary page select the name of the realm (for example, myrealm)
  3. On the Realm Settings page select Roles and Policies > Policies to display the Policy table.
  4. Expand Root Level Policies and select the resource type, for example:

    Root Level Policies > EJBs

  5. Select the Policy Expression for the selected resource.
  6. Return to the main task. Start at Create security policies: step 2
