Step 3: Run the Application on a Server

In this step, you will run the sample application on a server. You can use any supported server, and this tutorial assumes that the server is already installed (but not started).

Run the Application

To run the sample application:

1. Right click on the file name in the AppXplorer view. From the menu, choose Run As > Run on Server.

   

2. You will be prompted to choose the server type and define a new server.

   

   Choose your server type from the list and click Next to continue.

3. Depending on the server, you will see different screens at this point. For example, if you selected Tomcat, you would see this screen.

   

   Specify the settings for your server and click Finish to continue.

4. The application will run and launch into a browser window in the editor pane.

   

   Note that the contents of the <Title> tag are shown on the browser tab (the default text of an empty JSP).
