Using Screen Readers

The accessibility features in Siebel Business Applications allow screen reader programs, such as JAWS (Job Access With Speech) from Freedom Scientific or Window-Eyes from GW Micro, Inc., to read fields, articulate messages and alerts, provide query results, and describe the options in drop-down lists in Siebel Business Applications.

If you want to read the contents of fields in the Siebel application, then you can press the arrow keys to navigate from field to field. The screen reader provides an audible description of the field contents. If you want to read and edit the contents of form fields, then use the TAB key for navigation because screen readers support edits in tab mode. The screen reader provides an audible message when it encounters a blank or read-only data field.

When a message appears, the focus of the Siebel application changes to the message, and the screen reader automatically reads the message. When you acknowledge the message by pressing Enter, the focus of the Siebel application returns to the last active screen or view.
