Using the WF/Task Editor Toolbar

The WF/Task Editor toolbar is a toolbar in Siebel Tools that is used to manage deployment of a task UI. It allows you to publish and activate, publish, revise, or expire a task. Publishing and activating a task, and expiring a task can only be performed through the WF/Task Editor toolbar. It is displayed in Siebel Tools in the menu bar, as displayed in the following figure:

Description

Publish

Moves the object definition of a task UI from the repository tables into the run-time tables of the Siebel client, making the task eligible to be activated from the administrative screens of the run-time client.

If you click Publish, then the status of the task UI changes from In Progress to Completed.

TIP:   You can publish and activate multiple task UIs by choosing more than one task when you use the Publish and Publish/Activate functions.

Publish/Activate

Publishes and activates a task UI with a single button click from within Siebel Tools while in local mode.

Use this button to activate a task UI only for debugging on a thick client. Because the activation is performed directly in the Siebel database from a session of Siebel Tools, an application client that is currently running cannot view the activated task in the application cache until you restart the client.

To use Publish/Activate, you must set the VerCheckTime parameter. For more information, see Preparing Siebel Tools to Define a Custom Task UI.

NOTE:  Do not use the Publish/Activate button when you run or test a task UI in a server environment. Instead, use the Publish button to publish the task, then use the Activate button in the task deployment view in the Siebel client to activate the task.

For an example that uses Publish/Activate, see Publishing the Task UI.

Revise

Generates a new version of the task UI for editing. The new version is displayed in the Tasks OBLE with the version property incremented by 1.

Expire

Sets the status of the task UI to expired.

For more information about the work that is performed by these buttons, see Process of Deploying a Task UI.
