Integrating a Third-Party Search Adapter with a Siebel Application

When a third-party adapter has been implemented, using the Search Open API, the adapter must be integrated with the Siebel application. This topic covers the required integration steps in Siebel Tools and in the Siebel Search Administration UI.

To integrate a third-party search adapter with a Siebel application

1. Start Siebel Tools.
2. In the Object Explorer, expand Business Service.
3. In the Business Service list, select Search External Service.
4. Choose Tools, and then Lock Project (or Alt+L) to lock the project.
5. In the Object Explorer, click Business Service User Prop.
6. In the Business Service User Props view, select Search External Service.
7. Set the OpenAPI Value to 1.
8. Compile the Siebel.srf file.
9. In the Siebel application navigate to the Administration - Search screen, and then the Search Engine Settings view.
10. Set the Library Name to the name and path of the adapter dll file.
11. Select the Default Flag field for the third-party adapter.
