Setting Search Preferences in Siebel High Interactivity

You can set search preferences to configure search results, such as the number of result records displayed on each page, and the default sort mechanism. Search preferences are applied only to Search operations, and are not applied to Find operations. After configuring the search preferences you must log back into the Siebel application for the preferences to take effect.

To set search preferences in Siebel High Interactivity

1. Navigate to the Search screen, and then the Search Preferences view.
2. Configure the search preferences. Search preferences are described in the following table.

   Search Preference	Description
   Number of Records	From the list, choose the number of records to display on each page in the Search Results view.
   Results Window	Select this option to display the search results displayed in a separate browser window.
   Automated Suggestion	Select this option to enable automated alternate keywords, and alternate words expansion. When enabled, Siebel Search automatically includes predefined alternate keywords as part of the search, and provides a suggestion for a query in the form of a Did you mean... message for alternate word pairs, and abbreviation expansion. For example, if the alternate word pair SES and Oracle Secure Enterprise Search is defined, then a query for SES returns documents containing the word SES, and the automated suggestion Did you mean Oracle Secure Enterprise Search.
   Default Sort	Results can be sorted by the following options: Data Source. The results can be sorted by individual business component, for example, Service Request or Account, or by external data source, for example by File System or Web Crawler. Date. The date that the document was last modified. Relevance. The relevance ranking is determined by Oracle Secure Enterprise Search algorithms and is based on variables such as proximity and frequency. Result Type. The result data type, for example, a database record or a PDF document.
   Context Sensitivity	Select this option if you want the Look In default option set by the screen context, for example, if the Search Center is invoked from the context of a particular screen, such as Service Request, the Look In control will automatically be set to that Search object.
   Criteria Reservation	Criteria Reservation is configured using the following options: Resume previous search. The search criteria of the previous search operation is preserved, and the search fields are pre-filled for the subsequent search. Clear previous search. The search criteria of the previous search operation is deleted.
   Language	Select a language to enable searching on keywords in a specific language. English is the default search language.
   Fetch Language Specific Docs	Select this option to exclude search result records that are not in the selected language.

3. Click Save Preference.
