Configuring SSL Encryption for the Siebel Management Server

The procedure in this topic describes how to configure SSL encryption for a Siebel Management Server in your Siebel Management Framework. For additional information on configuring SSL for the Siebel Management Framework, see About Configuring SSL Encryption for the Siebel Management Framework.

This task is a step in Process of Configuring Secure Communications.

To configure SSL encryption for the Siebel Management Server

  1. Before you begin, obtain and install the necessary certificate files that you require to configure SSL authentication.
  2. Start the Siebel Management Server Configuration Wizard.

For information on this task, see Siebel Installation Guide for the operating system you are using.

  3. Enter configuration values for the Siebel Management Server until the wizard prompts you to select whether or not you want to deploy the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol.
  4. Select the SSL radio button to deploy SSL, then click Next.

If you do not want to deploy with SSL, then select the NoSSL radio button.

To deploy for local communications only, select the LoopBack radio button. This option binds to a loopback address and accepts connections only from the same computer. You can use this option in a Windows environment if the Siebel Management Agent and Siebel Management Server are installed on the same computer.

  5. Choose one of the following options, then click Next:
    • Client. Select this option to use the SSL protocol for communication from the client (the client referred to is the Siebel Management Server). The wizard requests the Private Key File Name and Private Key File Password. Proceed to Step 8.
    • Dual. Select this option to use the SSL protocol for communications in both directions between the Siebel Management Server and the Siebel Management Agents. The wizard requests the name of the SSL provider.
    • Server. Select this option to use the SSL protocol for communication from the server (the server referred to is the Siebel Management Agent). The wizard requests the name of the SSL provider.
  6. For Dual or Server configuration, select the name of the SSL provider from the following list, then click Next:
    • JSSENoStubProviderWrapper
    • RSAProviderWrapper
    • SunJSSEProviderWrapper

NOTE:  If you selected Client authentication, then the SunJSSEProviderWrapper provider is used.

  7. Enter values for the Private Key File Name and Private Key File Password, then click Next.
  8. Enter the name of the TrustStore file, then click Next.
  9. Continue entering configuration values for the Siebel Management Server when prompted by the wizard.
  10. When the parameter review screen is displayed, review the values you have selected, and, if the settings are correct, execute the configuration.
