Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140


The United States government Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140 outlines the minimum security requirements for cryptographic modules (both hardware and software) that are used to protect sensitive information.

It is recommended that you verify that the cryptography module used in the applications in your implementation have FIPS 140-1 or FIPS 140-2 certification. The RSA BSAFE libraries used in Siebel Business Applications are FIPS 140-2 certified.
