Creating Custom Virtual Directories

Virtual directories are created automatically for Siebel Business Applications when you apply the SWSE logical profile to an installed SWSE. However, in some cases you might want to create your own virtual directory and point to an existing Application Object Manager; for example, to be able to test features like Web Single Sign-On (Web SSO).

On Microsoft Windows with Microsoft IIS, before you apply the SWSE logical profile, you can precustomize which virtual directories to create on the Web server. For example, you can remove the entries for virtual directories that you do not need. To do this, you edit batch files that are located in the SWSE logical profile directory, as follows:

  • Edit eapps_virdirs.bat and eapps_virdirs_sia_latest.bat for Microsoft IIS 7 or later.
  • Edit eapps_virdirs.bat and eapps_virdirs_sia.bat for Microsoft IIS 6.

Alternatively, before you create the SWSE logical profile on the Siebel Gateway Name Server computer, you can precustomize the Siebel virtual directories by editing the configuration files that correspond to these batch files. These files are located in the SIEBEL_GATEWAY_ROOT\ADMIN directory. For information about where the virtual directories are created on Microsoft IIS, see Verifying the Siebel Virtual Directories on the Web Server. For information about creating and applying SWSE logical profiles, see Process of Configuring the Siebel Web Server Extension.
