Target SNMP log filters

If you plan to target the SNMP agent that contains a log filter to the Administration Server, specify on which servers in the domain you want the filter to listen.

If you target SNMP agents to individual Managed Servers, you do not need to specify on which servers you want to listen. An SNMP agent on a Managed Server listens for messages only from its host Managed Server.

To target log filters:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the Administration Console, under Domain Structure, expand Diagnostics and select SNMP.
  3. On the Summary of SNMP Agents page, in the Server SNMP Agents table, click the name of an SNMP agent.
  4. On the SNMP Agent: Configuration: General page, click the Log Filters sub-tab.
  5. On the SNMP Log Filters page, click the name of the log filter.
  6. Select the Servers tab.
  7. On the Servers tab, check each server on which you want the log filter to listen for messages.
  8. Click Save.
  9. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
