Note that when moving from Release 18.104.22.168.x or 22.214.171.124.x to Release 126.96.36.199, you use the "Apply Maintenance Release" option in Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installer, instead of following the documented upgrade procedures.
For Oracle Hyperion Financial Close Management, applying the maintenance release is supported only from Release 188.8.131.52.
Note: If you were using Oracle Hyperion EPM Architect Release 9.3.1, you can download the Oracle Hyperion Shared Services release 9.3.3 from My Oracle Support.
A release earlier than Release 9.3.3.x
If you are upgrading from a release earlier than 9.3.3.x, you must first upgrade to a supported release and then upgrade to release 184.108.40.206. For upgrade procedures for the earlier release, see the product installation guides for the interim release that you are upgrading to.
An environment that includes multiple releases, which can include an environment with one instance of Shared Services or an environment with two instances of Shared Services

If you are starting from Release 220.127.116.11+, 9.3.0.x, 9.3.1.x (except for Oracle Essbase 18.104.22.168.1, 22.214.171.124, 126.96.36.199, and 188.8.131.52), or 11.1.1.x, Oracle recommends that you upgrade to Release 184.108.40.206 as your interim release. If you are starting from an earlier release, Oracle recommends that you upgrade to the highest level release that directly supports upgrade from your starting release. Security Synchronization between Essbase and Shared Services was removed in Essbase Release 9.3, starting with Release 220.127.116.11.1. Essbase and Oracle Hyperion Shared Services Release 18.104.22.168, however, still synchronize security information. For this reason, if you are using Essbase Release 22.214.171.124.1, 126.96.36.199, 188.8.131.52, or 184.108.40.206, you must first upgrade all products to Release 9.3.3, instead of Release 220.127.116.11.
If you are coming from Release 18.104.22.168 or 22.214.171.124, use the Defects Fixed Finder tool to review the list of defects fixed between those releases and Release 126.96.36.199. This tool is available here:
13590781 -- If member names in a cube contain square brackets (for example, "PUB__1"), performing a zoom in or refresh operation on a range containing these members may result in an error message.
12756717 -- If an invalid configuration setting is entered in essbase.properties, Provider Services may fail to start.
12885251 -- In Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office, if you insert a blank row into a Smart Slice and then launch Query Designer, the Essbase menu and point of view may disappear.
12885232 -- In Smart View, if you launch Member Information on a Date-Time Series member, you may receive an "unexpected Essbase error."
13591636 -- When third-party software retrieves a large cell data section using XMLA, the third-party software may terminate abnormally with an error message of “The server sent an unrecognizable response.”
13519619 -- When Provider Services is running on a server with a non-English locale set, queries using XMLA services may fail with the following error message: “The server sent an unrecognizable response. Additional information: Unable to format XML value according to declared type.”
13452698 -- In Smart View, using the function HsGetVal to refresh a sheet may incorrectly refresh a different sheet when you have attribute dimensions in the grid.
9104922 -- MaxL statements that require API support do not work. On such statements, you will receive an error message that the statement is not supported.
11772464 -- In an XMLA stateless session, you may get this error message: "...Concurrent requests on the same session are not allowed. Wait till the previous request completes processing or kill the request....”
11839647 -- When you connect a Java API client to Essbase using a Provider Services URL without the port, for example, http://<hostname>/aps/Essbase?ClusterName=<logical name>, you may get the following error: Cannot connect to Essbase server, Error(1030027): Port length must be less or equal to 9 character9Including white space) when passed to ESSAPI function EssLogin.
This occurs only in Provider Services instances that are deployed on default ports (80/443) and only for Java API clients that use the Provider Services URL as the OLAP server name for resolving the Essbase logical name for implementation in release 11.1.2.
12913916 -- In the Smart View Member Selection window, searching for members with aliases that are stored in a non-default alias table does not work. The members are not found, and no error is displayed.
12896745 -- If a cube created in Oracle Essbase Studio is deployed to Essbase and opened using Smart View, when the Essbase Studio service is running and an ad-hoc drill-down is initiated, the following error message may occur: Dimension signature mismatch in @ function ~[SET CONSTRUCTOR]~ on line ~
13406653 -- In Smart View, when executing an Oracle Essbase Studio drill-through report on duplicate members, the error message Cannot perform cube view operation.null may occur.
13112801 -- Open JAPI connections to Essbase may unexpectedly be terminated with the following error message: Cannot set active application/cube. Essbase Error(1051021): You have been logged out due to inactivity or explicitly by the administrator.
13078240 -- The file <APS_HOME>\lib\essconfiguration.jar is no longer needed, and has been removed.
12931820 -- Executing an MDX query may result in the following error message: Cannot perform cube view operation.
Calling IEssOpMdxQuery.setQuery with needCellStatus = true may prevent this error.
12913916 -- In the Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office Member Selection window, searching for members with aliases that are stored in a non-default alias table may not work. The members are not found, and no error is displayed.
12788139 -- When retrieving a qualified member name for an alias name containing “++,” an incorrect member name is returned.
11694142 -- The JAPI client may not properly handle an unexpected socket closure from Essbase.
12781645, 12656037 -- The JAPI client may fail to recognize the status of an Essbase data load.
The following issues are the noteworthy known issues of this release.
8674073 -- In Smart Slice dimensions that contain more than 5000 members, not all members will be displayed when users zoom in on the dimension. To use Smart Slices on dimensions with more than 5000 members, in the essbase.properties file, located in EPM_ORACLE_INSTANCE\bin, set the property service.olap.dataQuery.grid.maxRows=0 and increase maximum heap size to 512M. Restart Provider Services.
11655006 -- Ensure that you use the correct syntax to specify secure mode. When you set the OLAP_NAME to cluster URL, use the values “yes” or “no” to specify whether you want to use secure mode, for example, OLAP_SERVER=http://<servername>:<port>aps/Essbase?ClusterName=Win32Cluster-1&SecureMode=yes
All other values (for example, SecureMode=true or SecureMode=false) are invalid and are interpreted by Provider Services as SecureMode=no.
If you use invalid syntax, no error message is generated, nor is the connection halted. Therefore, if you were to enter SecureMode=true to specify secure communication, it would be interpreted as SecureMode=no, and the connection would be made successfully but not in secure mode.
11898620 -- When you use the Essbase cluster URL in a Java API client program running in 3-tier APS mode, the Provider Services host used to resolve the Essbase cluster URL is the Provider Services host name to which the client is connected in the 3-tier mode; the Provider Services host name within the Essbase Cluster URL is not used. These two references to Provider Services hosts are usually same. When you use the Essbase cluster URL in a Java API client program running in embedded 2-tier mode, then the Provider Services host used to resolve the Essbase cluster URL is the Oracle Hyperion Provider Services host name within the Oracle Essbase cluster URL.
