Purpose

This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System. Review this Readme thoroughly before installing EPM System.

New Features in this Release

  • IBM WebSphere 7.0.0.19+ (AS, ND) is now supported as an application server. Documentation about deploying to WebSphere is in the chapter titled “Deploying EPM System Products to WebSphere Application Server” in the .

  • FireFox 10.x+ and Internet Explorer 9 are now supported Web browsers.

  • Microsoft Office 2010 64 bit is now supported.

  • After completing an EPM System deployment, you can generate a deployment report that provides information about configured Web applications, Web servers, databases, and data directories used by EPM System. This report can help you troubleshoot issues that might arise in your deployment.

  • The Oracle Enterprise Manager “Fusion Middleware Control” is now installed and deployed with EPM System. You can use this tool to manage the WebLogic domain and all Java Web applications in EPM System out of the box.

  • The EPM System Media pack on Oracle Software Delivery Cloud has been simplified. Software downloads have been merged together. See the Media Pack Readme for a list of downloads needed for your domain/product.

  • Installation of Oracle HTTP Server is now optional. If you choose not to install Oracle HTTP Server, for example in a development environment, Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installer installs an embedded WebLogic HTTP Server as part of Oracle Hyperion Foundation Services that acts as a proxy server. In a production environment, Oracle recommends that you install Oracle HTTP Server for use with Oracle WebLogic Server or IBM HTTP Server for use with WebSphere. You can also install and manually configure Apache HTTP Server with WebLogic Server.

  • Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) Client Installers are now provided for Oracle Essbase Client, Oracle Essbase Administration Services Console, Oracle Essbase Studio Console, and Oracle Hyperion Financial Management Client.

  • Three new “rapid deployment” documents provide step-by-step instructions for building a typical Oracle Hyperion Planning, Financial Management, or Essbase development environment on a single server running Microsoft Windows. These documents are available on the Deployment tab of the EPM System Documentation Library (http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/epm.html).

  • A new outlines the best-practice approach for deploying EPM System products. This approach is based on creating a base deployment of the products and then scaling out the services to handle the needed capacity.

  • A new “Account Reconciliation” Web application has been added to the Oracle Hyperion Financial Close Management managed server. See the Financial Close Management documentation for information about using the functionality provided by this new Web application.

  • A new “ADF” Web application has been added for Financial Management.

  • You can now manage Financial Management clusters from one machine. Cluster information is now stored in Oracle Hyperion Shared Services Registry rather than in the Windows registry. Other usability enhancements have also been made for Financial Management configuration.

  • The Oracle Hyperion Financial Reporting Print Server is now part of the Financial Reporting Web application. You no longer have to install the Print Server as part of the Financial Reporting Studio installation, and you no longer need Microsoft Office on the Print Server.

  • You can now deploy EPM System Web applications to a single managed server (compact server) in Development, Test, and Production environments. This reduces the overall memory requirement of EPM System and reduces startup time.

  • The has been merged into the .

  • Online Help content for EPM System products is served from a central Oracle download location, which reduces the download and installation time for EPM System. You can also install and configure online Help to run locally. For more information, see the .

New Features in Release 11.1.2.1

  • The EPM System component communications spreadsheet displays all components for each EPM System product domain and its associated communication flows, including port and protocol information. This spreadsheet has been updated for 11.1.2.1 and is posted in the EPM Whitepaper library ("Communication Flows for 11.1.2.1 EPM System Components").

  • The now includes diagrams that illustrate the component architecture for each EPM System domain. See the chapter titled "EPM System Architecture".

  • The includes additional deployment diagrams for Financial Close Management.

  • The High Availability Guide now includes a chapter about setting up EPM System for disaster recovery and is now called the .

  • New client installers are available for Financial Reporting Studio, Strategic Finance Client, and Offline Planning so you can install client software without downloading large zip files for server and Web components. The Financial Reporting Print Server is now installed with the Financial Reporting Studio client installer.

  • In a UNIX environment, you can deploy EPM System products to a shared drive. Deploying to a shared drive lets you install in one place, and configure on each machine. This allows you to:

    • Review the configuration for a distributed setup from a single machine

    • Review logs for different machines from a single machine

    • Enable patching in a single place

    • Simplify disaster recovery setup

  • The Financial Close Management deployment process has been streamlined.

  • Release 11.1.2.1 supports upgrading from prior releases. For information on the supported upgrade paths, see "Supported Paths to this Release."

  • You can now configure Oracle HTTP Server to provide load-balancing of Financial Management, and Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management Web applications on IIS. You set up the load-balancing in Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Configurator , where you can choose between Oracle HTTP Server and third-party load balancers.

  • Failover clustering of Oracle Hyperion EPM Architect Dimension Server with Oracle Clusterware is now supported.

  • Essbase now supports one-way SSL. See the for information on configuration steps and the for additional procedures.

  • EPM System Installer and EPM System Configurator support the Polish and Norwegian languages.

  • A new configuration option in EPM System Configurator simplifies integration between Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management Workspace and OBIEE and BI Publisher.

  • Financial Reporting Print Server is now installed with Financial Reporting Studio. The download file, which is separate from EPM System Installer, is smaller to speed up download time and installation.

  • A new configuration option in EPM System Configurator lets you specify a non-default location for text files used as data sources for Essbase Studio. Previously, you specified that information in a file.

  • EnterprisePerformance Management Architect Services have been collapsed to two: Enterprise Performance Management Architect Server and Enterprise Performance Management Architect IIS Web Services.

  • The Scheduler Server is now combined with the rest of the Financial Reporting Services. There is no special configuration required other than using native application server clustering. Ensure that all the network shares and physical printers are accessible from all the WebLogic Server instance machines if storing output in an external directory or directing output to a printer.

Note: SQR Release 11.1.2.x and Interactive Reporting Release 11.1.2.x will be the last release to support Netezza as a data source.

New Features in Release 11.1.2.0

  • EPM System Installer now installs these items:

  • Most EPM System products have adopted Oracle Diagnostic Logging (ODL) as the logging mechanism. The ODL framework provides uniform support for managing log files, including log file rotation, maximum log file size, and the maximum log directory size. For more information, see the "Using EPM System Logs" chapter in the .

  • Oracle Configuration Manager (OCM) integrates with My Oracle Support and provides configuration information for Oracle software. It assists in the troubleshooting, maintenance, and diagnostics of your EPM System deployment. For more information about Oracle Configuration Manager, see the .

  • This release allows the system administrator to reconfigure logical references to existing, deployed Web applications without redeploying them.

  • With this release, many EPM System products support host names that resolve to IPv6 addresses. See the IPv4 support (both host name and IP address) remains unchanged from earlier releases.

  • EPM supports the following types of SSL configuration:

    • Full SSL Deployment (including data access)

    • SSL Terminating at the Web Server

    • SSL Accelerators (off-loading)

    • Two-way SSL

For more information on the SSL configurations, see the ..

  • EPM System Configurator now requires the Oracle Hyperion Shared Services "admin" password to be changed during system configuration. Once deployed, subsequent password changes are done through Shared Services. For more information, see the .

  • Essbase now supports active-passive failover without Oracle Clusterware. You can use EPM System Configurator to configure Essbase in an active-passive failover configuration with write-back capability. For more information, see the and the .

  • Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) Client Installers are now provided for Essbase Excel Add-in and Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management.

  • Essbase Server supports Oracle Process Manager and Notification Server (OPMN) Integration. For more information, see the .

New Products in Release 11.1.2.0

EPM System releases the following new products:

  • Financial Close Management--Helps companies define, execute, and report on the interdependent activities of a financial close period. It provides centralized monitoring of all close process tasks and provides a visible, automated, repeatable system of record for running close processes.

  • Disclosure Management--Allows you to assemble a reporting package for submission to a regulatory agency that includes financial statements, as well as supporting schedules and commentary which may exist in Excel, Word, or a Financial Reporting document.

Installation Information

Late-breaking information about installation of EPM System products is provided in the . Review this information thoroughly before installing EPM System products.

Business Rules Migration to Calculation Manager

Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager has replaced Oracle Hyperion Business Rules as the mechanism for designing and managing business rules, therefore, Business Rules is no longer released with EPM System Release 11.1.2.2. If you are applying 11.1.2.2 as a maintenance release, or upgrading to Release 11.1.2.2, and have been using Business Rules in an earlier release, you must migrate to Calculation Manager rules in Release 11.1.2.2. See .

Planning User Interface Enhancements

This release of Planning includes a large number of user interface enhancements, as described in . To optimize performance with these new features, you must implement the following recommended configuration.

  • Server: 64-bit, 16 GB physical RAM

  • Client: Optimized for Internet Explorer 9 and Firefox 10 or higher

  • Client-to-Server Connectivity: High-speed internet connection or VPN connection between client and server, client-to-server ping time < 150 milliseconds for best performance

The new, improved Planning user interface requires efficient browsers to handle interactivity provided through Web 2.0 like functionality. In our testing, Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 8, and Firefox 3.x are not sufficient to handle such interactivity, and the responsiveness in these versions of browsers is not as fast as the user interface in the previous releases of Planning. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you upgrade your browser to Internet Explorer 9 or Firefox 10 to get responsiveness similar to what you experienced in previous releases. In some instances, the response times in Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 3.x could be acceptable. Hence, we suggest that you uptake the new user interface only after you conduct an end user response test and you are satisfied with the results of these tests for these versions of browsers. Please note that it is still possible to leverage the old user interface and features from Planning Release 11.1.2.1. For more information, see “Using the Planning Release 11.1.2.1 User Interface and Features” in the .

IBM HTTP Server and IIS Default Ports

Both IBM HTTP Server and IIS Web Server use 80 as their default port. If you are using WebSphere, you must change one of these defaults so that there is no port conflict.

Note: For instructions to upgrade, see the , "Upgrading EPM System Products."

Table 1. Table

Release Upgrade Path FromTo

11.1.2.x

11.1.2.2

Note that when moving from Release 11.1.2.0.x or 11.1.2.1.x to Release 11.1.2.2, you use the "Apply Maintenance Release" option in EPM System Installer, instead of following the documented upgrade procedures.

For Financial Close Management, applying the maintenance release is supported only from Release 11.1.2.1.

11.1.1.3.x

11.1.2.2

11.1.1.4.x

11.1.2.2

9.3.3.x

Note: If you were using Performance Management Architect Release 9.3.1, you can download the Shared Services release 9.3.3 from My Oracle Support.

11.1.2.2

A release earlier than Release 9.3.3.x

If you are upgrading from a release earlier than 9.3.3.x, you must first upgrade to a supported release and then upgrade to release 11.1.2.2. For upgrade procedures for the earlier release, see the product installation guides for the interim release that you are upgrading to.

An environment that includes multiple releases, which can include an environment with one instance of Shared Services or an environment with two instances of Shared Services

See "Upgrading from an Environment with Multiple Releases" in the "Upgrading EPM System Products" chapter in the .

Note: If you are starting from Release 9.2.0.3+, 9.3.0.x, 9.3.1.x (except for Essbase 9.3.1.4.1, 9.3.1.5, 9.3.1.6, and 9.3.1.7), or 11.1.1.x, Oracle recommends that you upgrade to Release 11.1.1.3 as your interim release. If you are starting from an earlier release, Oracle recommends that you upgrade to the highest level release that directly supports upgrade from your starting release. Security Synchronization between Essbase and Shared Services was removed in Essbase Release 9.3, starting with Release 9.3.1.4.1. Essbase and Shared Services Release 11.1.1.3, however, still synchronize security information. For this reason, if you are using Essbase Release 9.3.1.4.1, 9.3.1.5, 9.3.1.6, or 9.3.1.7, you must first upgrade all products to Release 9.3.3, instead of Release 11.1.1.3.

  • 6889688, 8291337 -- If there is not enough free disk space for an installation, EPM System Installer displays an error message, "Failed. Check for space or memory issues", at the bottom of the Summary window.

Workaround: Ensure that there is twice as much space as the amount shown in .

  • 7230134 -- Using underscores in host names may cause errors when starting or connecting to services running on the improperly named hosts.

Workaround: Use an alphanumeric, dash (-), or dot (.) character in the host name.

  • 7698703 -- If EPM System Configurator is running and you click Cancel, this error message is displayed: "This action cannot be cancelled."

Workaround: Either shut down the command line window or open the Windows Task Manager and end the Java process.

  • 8255440 -- After a configured Shared Services database is deleted and then recreated, EPM System Configurator stops when you attempt to configure the new database.

Workaround: Do not delete the database in the middle of configuration. If you have already deleted the database, stop and restart EPM System Configurator.

  • 8284282 -- EPM System Configurator does not prompt for database information if the database is not running.

Workaround: Verify that your database is running before you start EPM System Configurator.

  • 8481513 -- When EPM System Installer installs files, the progress bar stalls at 99% for over a half hour.

Workaround: EPM System Installer appears to freeze while copying over large amounts of help files. It will complete the task, but on some slow systems, it might take an hour. Know that if you cancel the installation, help files for EPM System Uninstaller may not be available.

  • 8599271 -- After the IIS listen port is changed, the Web server configuration task displays the default port.

Workaround: Disregard the port displayed in the Web server configuration task. The listen port is changed correctly.

  • 8634069 -- The Excel add-in menu cannot be accessed by a system administrator. Only the user specified during the installation can access the menu.

Workaround: If you are using Spreadsheet Add-in as a Power User instead of as an Administrator, you must manually set ESSBASEPATH.

  • 8807229 -- EPM System Configurator displays the wrong error message during SSL support for JDBC verification.

    Workaround: Restart EPM System Configurator.

  • 9006776 -- AIX: When you install EPM System as the first Oracle product on a machine, you must run rootpre.sh, located in the extracted assembly folder rootpre as a root user to create the central inventory for Oracle products.

  • 9115765 -- UNIX: When you run EPM System Configurator and leave the user name blank for the database, click Next, and then go back to reenter the user name, the Shared Services Registry tables are not created.

Workaround: Exit EPM System Configurator before re-entering the user name.

  • 9123899 -- When you run EPM System Configurator and choose the database configuration option, EPM System Configurator fails if the database name has double-byte characters.

Workaround: Change the database name to non-double-byte characters.

  • 9144638 -- When you run EPM System Configurator, the SSL listen ports are predefined for all deployed Web applications and then enabled. They should be in a disabled state because EPM System Configurator does not perform automatic SSL configuration.

Workaround: Configure SSL separately. For instructions on SSL configuration, see the .

  • 9348682 -- When the temp directory in WebLogic Server contains a lot of WebLogic objects, EPM System Configurator and EPM System Installer may encounter errors in subsequent installations and configurations.

Workaround: Delete the WebLogic Server objects by hand before installing and configuring new components.

  • 9364854 -- When EPM System Configurator terminates abnormally before configuring EPM System products, EPM System Configurator displays the status as complete.

Workaround: Re-run EPM System Configurator and select all the options.

  • 9388673 -- After you run EPM System Configurator successfully for several products, when you rerun EPM System Configurator again, the status check boxes of the configured parent products are still selected.

Workaround: If parent products are selected for configuration and the subtasks are displayed as successfully configured, click Next:

    • If you receive a popup message indicating no tasks to run, you may ignore the parent status and close the window.

    • If EPM System Configurator proceeds, then you actually have incomplete hidden tasks to run; for example: Shared Services registration or an internal preconfiguration task.

  • 9402134 -- On the EPM System Installer summary window, clicking the Configure button does not start EPM System Configurator.

Workaround: From the Start menu, select Programs, then Oracle EPM System, then Foundation Services, and then EPM System Configurator.

  • 9550582 -- When using EPM System Configurator with insufficient database permissions, the database configuration (Shared Services and Registry) passes; however, all other tasks fail, and EPM_ORACLE_INSTANCE/diagnostics/logs/config does not contain all the logs to help debug the problem.

Workaround: Make sure the user has sufficient database permissions. See the Installation Start Here for the required permissions.

  • 9591524 -- After pressing Configure in EPM System Installer, EPM System Configurator does not launch.

Workaround: Launch EPM System Configurator from the Start menu or from the command line. See the for more information.

  • 9668584 -- In a Solaris environment, EPM System Installer starts even though there is not enough space to complete the installation, and the installation fails for all products.

Workaround: See the for disk space requirements.

  • 9730352 -- The Test page in WebLogic Administration Console does not work.

  • 9861342 -- When several Web applications are deployed in the Administration Server, an out of memory message may be displayed at deployment.

Workaround: Increase the default memory setting in the Administration Server.

  • 9969347 -- If you launch EPM System Configurator, select an existing domain, and select a component to reconfigure, the database connection information is incorrect.

Workaround: Edit the values that appear after you select the database type.

  • 9975135 -- If you launch EPM System Configurator by clicking the Configure button on the EPM System Installer Summary page, the execution of startconfigtool.bat fails during a Windows System32 directory check with error message: C:\WINDOWS\system32 not present in PATH; however, C:\WINDOWS\system32 actually does exist in the PATH environment variable.

Workaround: Launch EPM System Configurator from the Start menu.

  • 10358325 -- Using EPM System Diagnostics to check the availability of Financial Management Web services does not always work correctly.

  • 10410914 -- In a Solaris environment, Web application start up is unacceptably slow.

Workaround: By default, EPM System Configurator deploys applications on Solaris using the jRockit JDK. One way to improve start up performance is to switch to the Sun JDK. To switch to the Sun JDK when you have already configured EPM System products, follow these steps:

    1. On the machines where the WebLogic EPM domains are created (Admin Server machine and all remote machines), modify DOMAIN_HOME/bin/setDomainEnv.sh as follows:

      Replace:

      SUN_JAVA_HOME=""

      export SUN_JAVA_HOME

      with

      SUN_JAVA_HOME="JDK_HOME"

      export SUN_JAVA_HOME

      JAVA_VENDOR="Sun"

      export JAVA_VENDOR

where JDK_HOME is the full path to JDK binaries under Middleware Home; for example, ./ Oracle/Middleware/jdk160_21.

    2. Update all EOI/bin/deploymentScripts/setCustomParamsServer_Name.sh files as follows:

      1. In JAVA_OPTIONS, remove the -XX:-FlightRecorder option.

      2. Add -XX:PermSize=64m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m parameters to USER_MEM_ARGS.

        For example:

        USER_MEM_ARGS="-Xms512m -Xmx512m -XX:PermSize=64m - XX:MaxPermSize=256m

  • 11713185 -- In a distributed installation of EPM System, after running EPM System Diagnostics, the validation report on the machine hosting Shared Services comes back empty.

Workaround: Add an epmsystem1 instance to $HOME/.oracle.instances and rerun EPM System Diagnostics. For example:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

Upgrading

General Upgrading Issues

  • Since Business Rules is no longer available, if you are applying the maintenance release or upgrading to Release 11.1.2.2, and if you have been using Oracle Hyperion Business Rules in an earlier release, you must migrate to Calculation Manager rules in Release 11.1.2.2. See “About Migrating Business Rules to Calculation Manager Rules” in the .

  • 10054391 -- If the path to the system folder c:\windows\system32 is not hard-coded with the full path, then the EPM System Configurator fails to run.

Workaround: Add C:\WINDOWS\system32 to the path, or replace any path variables.

  • 13873874 -- If you are applying the maintenance release from Release 11.1.2.0 or 11.1.2.1 to Release 11.1.2.2, and you redeploy to a single managed server, Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Diagnostics still checks the products on the original port (19000) even though they are now running on the port in the single managed server (9000).

Upgrading Disclosure Management

  • 14169561 -- After applying the maintenance release from Release 11.1.2.1 to Release 11.1.2.2, the following Disclosure Management directories (required for updating the Disclosure Management add-in) are deleted:

    <ServerDrive>\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\common\epmstatic\disclosure_mgmt\svext

    <ServerDrive>\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\common\epmstatic\disclosure_mgmt\svext

Workaround: After applying the maintenance release, copy the Disclosure Management add-in folder content (1 MSI) from the install image to <ServerDrive>/Oracle/Middleware/EPMSystem11R1/common/epmstatic/disclosure_mgm/svext on every machine where Oracle HTTP Server is installed. If you are using the embedded proxy servlet, copy the Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management add-in folder content to all machines in the system. You must then restart Oracle HTTP Server.

Upgrading EPM Workspace

  • 9735278 -- When applying the maintenance release from Release 11.1.2.0 to Release 11.1.2.2, any new locales must be manually added to the list of supported locales. In EPM Workspace Release 11.1.2.2, the new locales are Norwegian and Polish.

Workaround: To add the new EPM Workspace locales, select Navigate, then Administer, then Workspace Server Setting, click the Supported Locales button, and add the desired locales.

Upgrading ERP Integrator

  • 11841283 -- Upgrading Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management ERP Integration Adapter for Oracle Applications to Release 11.1.2.2 fails because the diagnostics\logs\upgrades folder does not exist.

Workaround: Create the diagnostics\logs\upgrades folder before configuration.

Upgrading Essbase

  • 10010699, 11735177 -- When upgrading Administration Services from a previous release to Release 11.1.2.2, the partition definition may become invalid due to a host name change from an out-of-place upgrade. This happens whenever there is a change in the hostname/Essbase Cluster name. When you try to repair the partition, the hostname will be changed to either a new host name or an Essbase Cluster name; however, if "user" information is changed, it will not get updated.

Workaround: Use the MaxL command alter partition... For complete syntax, see the .

  • 10074763 -- In a distributed environment, where Shared Services is installed on a different machine than the machine on which Administration Services is installed, after upgrading Release 11.1.1.3 or 11.1.2.0 to Release 11.1.2.2, the Administration Services Console fails to start the first time you try to log in.

    Workaround: Restart the managed server.

  • 11774029 -- When upgrading Essbase from Release 11.1.1.3 to Release 11.1.2.2, only the administrator is provisioned for Essbase; the other users are not provisioned. So, only the administrator is able to log in to Essbase.

Workaround: On any additional boxes (beyond the initial box where Shared Services is installed) where Shared Services is replicated, configure the database for Foundation Services and perform the “Import Data from Earlier Release” task before configuring other products, particularly Essbase.

  • 13113884 -- If you upgrade from Essbase Studio Release 11.1.1.3 to Release 11.1.2.2, the existing Essbase Studio entry in Oracle Hyperion Shared Services Console is not overwritten; instead, a new entry is created.

Workaround: Delete the duplicate entry that has no provisioning associated with it.

  • 13532945 -- After applying the maintenance release from Release 11.1.2.1 to Release 11.1.2.2 EPM System Configurator does not detect the existing DATABASE_CONN node for Administration Services.

Workaround: In EPM System Configurator select "Create New" and provide Administration Services database credentials for Release 11.1.2.0/11.1.2.1.

  • 11797646 -- For Japanese Essbase Studio environment upgrades, when performing the cube linkage procedure in "Updating Essbase Studio References to a Rehosted Environment," selecting the option, "Update all Essbase applications and databases to link to the current Essbase Studio Server" results in errors.

Workaround: Update cube linkage for each cube individually, as described in "Updating Cube Linkage for Individual Cubes" in the .

  • 11834645 -- When upgrading Essbase from Release 11.1.1.3, Essbase Server Configuration fails.

Workaround: Before configuration, edit EPM_ORACLE_HOME/products/Essbase/EssbaseServer/bin/setEssbaseEnv.bat template for the correct ESSLANG value (always Latin-1), or use non-double-byte ARBORPATH.

  • 11865836 -- When applying the maintenance release from Release 11.1.2.0, the Validation Tool may indicate an Essbase java API check fail when doing multiple box configurations. This is a reporting issue and there normally is no functional issue with the software.

  • 11887058 -- When upgrading from Release 11.1.1.3, running configtool.sh in -console mode on Solaris does not prompt for the previous Administration Services database.

Workaround: Run configtool.sh in -gui mode or in -silent mode.

Upgrading Financial Management

  • 10223268 -- When using EPM System Configurator to configure a Financial Management DCOM user, configuration fails if the password does not meet the requirements for Windows 2008.

Workaround: Use a password that conforms to Windows security standards.

  • 11794181 -- After upgrading from Release 11.1.1.3 to Release 11.1.2.2, the Financial Management applications created in Release 11.1.1.3 can be seen from the Application Library but cannot be opened.

Workaround: Run Application Upgrade.exe (for 32-bit machines) or Application Upgrade_x64.exe (for 64-bit machines) found in <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/products/FinancialManagement/Server.

  • 11865828 -- After applying the maintenance release from Release 11.1.2.0 to Release 11.1.2.2 on multiple distributed boxes with the Financial Management Web application installed separately from the services, you may get a diagnostic tool error. This is a reporting issue and there normally is no functional issue with the software.

Upgrading Profitability and Cost Management

  • 10007895 -- In Profitability and Cost Management, when upgrading from Release 11.1.1.3 to Release 11.1.2.1, the upgrade may fail if the EPM_ORACLE_INSTANCE variable is not set.

Workaround: Ensure that the EPM_ORACLE_INSTANCE variable is set before running the upgrade_reregister_ps1.bat|sh script. See the .

Upgrading Provider Services

  • 11073844 -- EPM System Configurator does not work correctly when Provider Services data is on a mapped network drive that is read-only.

Workaround: Place Provider Services data on writable mapped drive, or on a local drive on an upgraded Release 11.1.2.1 system.

Upgrading Shared Services

  • 10409522 -- When upgrading from any release to Release 11.1.2.2, migration is supported only for identity attributes set to DN or nsuniqueid for SunOne LDAP, OrclGUID for OID, ObjectGUID for Active Directory, GUID for Novell eDirectory, or ibm-entryUUID for IBM LDAP Directory servers. If you have an identity attribute set to a value other than these, you must first migrate to a supported identity attribute.

Note: Although currently there is no way to migrate identity attributes, Oracle is planning to provide patches for Releases 9.2.1, 9.3.3 and 11.1.1.3. If you are using unsupported identity attributes, apply the patch in the current release, migrate identities to a supported attribute, and then upgrade to Release 11.1.2.1.

Upgrading Web Analysis

  • 11857614 -- In Web Analysis, when applying the maintenance release from Release 11.1.2.0 to Release 11.1.2.1, you must go to the Web Analysis Web Application Properties - Related Content tab and manually change the RelatedContent.Server.URL.0 parameter to the following:

    /raframework/browse/listXML?sso_token=$SSO_TOKEN$

Workaround: Do not select the option "Automatically copy files to a mounted or mapped file system." You must select "Get a list of file transfer instructions" and then manually transfer the files using the tar utility.

  • 11716777 -- Creating an aggregate storage tablespace file location with a path that is exactly 496 bytes long may result in abnormal program termination.

  • 11789346 -- The Essbase rehosting tool attempts to correct partitions on an Essbase Release 11.1.2.1 installation where the source or target reside on an older version of Essbase that does not support logical names. This results in an invalid partition.

Workaround: Upgrade both the source and target servers, or remove the partition definition before upgrading.

Essbase Studio

  • 14605565 -- In EPM System Releases 11.1.2.1 and 11.1.2.2, when installing Essbase Studio services by themselves, the EPM_ORACLE_HOME/common/essbaseJavaAPI folder is missing.

Workaround: Install any one of the following components on the same box as Oracle Essbase Studio:

    • Oracle Hyperion EPM Architect Web

    • Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager

    • Administration Services

    • Oracle Essbase Server

    • FDM

    • Financial Reporting

    • Oracle Hyperion Performance Scorecard

    • Oracle Hyperion Planning

    • Oracle Hyperion Profitability and Cost Management

    • Provider Services

    • Shared Services

    • Web Analysis

Administration Services

  • 7461473 -- After you modify the Administration Services port, the menu command Assign Access Control is no longer displayed in Oracle Hyperion Shared Services.

Workaround: Log on to Oracle Essbase Administration Services Console, and use the Register All command on the appropriate Enterprise View. Navigate to Essbase Servers, then HOSTNAME, and then the Applications item.

Integration Services

  • 7253757 -- On Windows 2003 SP 1, after installation, EPM System Installer uses Windows services to start and stop the services for Integration Services. Sometimes after the services are stopped with the Windows services console, olapisvr.exe still runs.

Workaround: Manually stop the olapisvr.exe and olapisvc.exe processes.

Reporting and Analysis

General

  • 9232850 -- startRaFramework.bat starts both Reporting and Analysis Framework Web application and Reporting and Analysis Agent. The dependency to start both should be removed.

    Workaround:

    • To start Reporting and Analysis Agent, run

      MIDDLEWARE_HOME/user_projects/epmsystem1/bin/startRaFrameworkAgent.bat

    • To start both Reporting and Analysis Framework Web application and Reporting and Analysis Agent, run

      MIDDLEWARE_HOME/user_projects/epmsystem1/bin/startRaFramework.bat

Dashboard Development Services

  • 7117352 -- After Oracle Hyperion Dashboard Development Services is installed on Windows Vista, the folders under the EPM Oracle home directory are read-only.

Workaround: Add the domain user or group to the EPM Oracle home folder security, and assign the user write permissions.

EPM Workspace

  • 14037250 -- You cannot log in to EPM Workspace when using WebSphere 7.0.0.21.

    Workaround: Complete the following steps:

    1. Select Security, then Global Security, then Java Authentication, then Authorization Service, and then JAAS - J2C Authentication Data. Select your datasource and enter a password. Repeat this step for all datasources.

    2. Go to Resources, then JDBC, and then Data Sources. Select your datasource and then select Additional Properties, then Connection Pool Properties, then Connection Pool Custom Properties, and then Remove All Properties. Click Save and repeat this step for all datasources.

    3. Select System Administration and then Node Agents. Select your node and click Restart all Servers on Node.

Financial Reporting

  • 10053116 -- The Financial Reporting Studio installer launches a separate console window that may continue to run for a brief time after the installation completes the setup tasks. This is normal, expected behavior.

Production Reporting

  • 7165746 -- Instead of using the Oracle Hyperion Shared Services Registry to store URLs, the Oracle Hyperion SQR Production Reporting portlet uses portlet.xml when you deploy the Reporting and Analysis Framework Web application.

Workaround: Update the following portlet values in the EPM Workspace Web application portlet.xml:

    • FOUNDATION_HOST--The EPM Workspace Web server machine host name.

    • FOUNDATION_PORT--The Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management Workspace Web server machine listen port. The default value is 19000.

Web Analysis

  • 13376284, 13813169 -- If Oracle Hyperion Reporting and Analysis Framework and Web Analysis Web applications are installed on different machines, you cannot start Web Analysis.

Workaround: Install Oracle Hyperion Reporting and Analysis Services on the machine running Web Analysis, and then re-configure Oracle Hyperion Web Analysis using EPM System Configurator.

    1. Select the Configure Database task for Reporting and Analysis Framework.

    2. Select Connect to a previously configured database.

    3. Specify the details for the Oracle Hyperion Reporting and Analysis Framework database.

Financial Performance Management Applications

Calculation Manager

  • 13423478 -- When starting Calculation Manger Web reports on IBM Websphere, the following exception is displayed in the startup log file: Cannot call 'cleanup' on a ManagedConnection.

Workaround: Apply IBM Fix Pack 7.0.0.23 (estimated release date is May of 2012).

Financial Close Management

  • 11785924 -- In Windows 2008 Server SP2 32-bit Enterprise edition, Financial Close Management fails to start with "unresolved application library references."

Workaround: Ensure that the oracle.soa.workflow.wc and oracle.soa.worklist.webapp libraries have deployment targets set to AdminServer, SOA Managed Server, and FinancialClose Managed Server.

  • 11831948 -- For Financial Close Management installations, after installing and configuring SOA in a new installation, or after upgrading SOA for a maintenance release installation, apply the following patches for Oracle Fusion Middleware, available on My Oracle Support:

    • 11837635 - PSE FOR BASE BUG 11063511 ON TOP OF 11.1.1.4.0 (PSE #527410).

For this patch, set the ORACLE_HOME environment variable to ../Oracle/Middleware/Oracle_SOA1

    • 11864201 - PSE FOR MLR BUG 11864201 ON TOP OF 11.1.1.4.0 (PSE #536496)

For this patch, set the ORACLE_HOME environment variable to MIDDLEWARE_HOME/oracle_common.

Before you apply a patch, shut down the Financial Close Management managed server, the SOA Server, and all managed servers. Review the patch readmes for information on how to apply a patch.

  • 13784940 -- While deploying Financial Close Management and SOA in a distributed environment, if the Deploy to SOA tasks fails, check the configtool.log file for a message similar to:

Caused By: weblogic.descriptor.BeanUpdateRejectedException: A JNDI name
    already exists at weblogic.jndi.internal.ForeignJNDILinkManager.checkDuplicate(ForeignJ
    NDILinkManager.java:137)

Workaround: If you see a message similar to the above, then, restart the Oracle WebLogic Server, and in EPM System Configurator, re-select Deploy to SOA.

  • 14221759 -- When starting database configuration over again for Financial Close Management, do not use EPM System Configurator to drop and re-create tables on an existing database; instead, you should configure to a new, unpopulated database.

Financial Management

  • 8560293 -- Microsoft Windows 2003 SP2: In some Windows 2003 SP2 installations, clients may experience "Access Denied" issues while connecting from Financial Management or Oracle Hyperion Financial Reporting. The client machine event log displays a "General access denied" error message.

Workaround: Add the following DWORD value to the Windows registry if it does not already exist:

    1. In the Registry Editor, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Rpc, add a new DWORD value with the name Server2003NegotiateDisable.

    2. Right-click Server2003NegotiateDisable and click Modify.

    3. For the Value Data, enter 1, and click OK.

Note: This setting disables the bind-time negotiation and multiple-transfer syntax negotiation.

    4. Exit the Windows Registry Editor and restart the computer.

    5. Enable Statement Caching. (The configured value must not be zero. The recommended value is between and 1 and 10.)

    6. Edit the following registry value: Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Oracle\Key_Homename\Oledb Value Name: StmtCacheSize Value (decimal): 1 where Key_Homename refers to the appropriate Oracle Home.

    7. Stop and restart the HFM application processes.

In addition, if you are using System 11 on a 64-bit operating system with a 10g database, the Oracle OLE provider on all Financial Management servers must be at least 10.2.0.4.21+. If you are using 32-bit with 10g, the OLE provider must be at least as high a version as your database server. If you are running 32-bit or 64-bit and using 11.1.0.6 or 11.1.0.7 OLE Provider, you must upgrade to Oracle Database Client 11.1.0.7.33+.

  • 9509373 -- After EPM System Installer installs Financial Management on a 32-bit or 64-bit machine, the email alerts from Financial Management do not work because Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installer did not register Microsoft .NET Framework Mailer.dll.

Workaround: Register Mailer.dll, locate and run the correct register command on your system:

    • 32-bit: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\<v2.X.XXXXX>\RegAsm.exe /codebase <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>\products\FinancialManagement\Web Server\Mailer.dll

    • 64-bit: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\<v2.X.XXXXX>\RegAsm.exe /codebase <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>\products\FinancialManagement\Web Server\Mailer.dll

  • 9689601 -- When you deploy Financial Management, you may receive the following error:

"Please install missing templates: Oracle JRF WebServices Asynchronous services"

JRF WebServices Asynchronous services are required only if you are using Financial Management with Financial Close Management. If you are not using Financial Management with Financial Close Management, you do not have to select the Deploy to Application Server task in EPM System Configurator for Financial Management. If you inadvertently select Deploy to Application Server for Financial Management, you can ignore any error messages. You need a working Financial Management Web Services Web application deployment only if you are using Financial Management with Oracle Hyperion Financial Close Management.

  • 10030819 -- In order to use the Financial Management Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Lifecycle Management Web service, you must manually install Web Services Extensions 3.

  • 10640500 -- If you use Oracle Database Client 10.2.x or 11.1.x for Financial Management, you must set the StmtCacheSize registry setting for Oracle OLE DB to 10 on all Financial Management application servers. This is due to a memory issue in Oracle Provider for OLE DB. The registry setting path is: Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Oracle\Key_Homename\Oledb. Note that the 11.2.x Oracle Database Client should not be changed.

To resolve the high memory usage:

    1. Enable Statement Caching. (The configured value must not be zero. The recommended value is between and 1 and 10.)

    2. Edit the following registry value: Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Oracle\Key_Homename\Oledb Value Name: StmtCacheSize Value (decimal): 1 where Key_Homename refers to the appropriate Oracle Home.

    3. top and restart the HFM application processes.

  • 11803646 -- EPM System Configurator does not detect registered Financial Management clusters.

Workaround: When configuring on the remote server, select the "DB Config" task along with other Financial Management configuration tasks. Available clusters and servers will then be visible on the Server/Cluster Configuration panel.

  • 11813179 -- After installing and configuring Oracle Hyperion Foundation Services and Financial Management, application creation may fail with the following error:

The specified module could not be found.

    Error Number:-2147024770

    Error Description:006~ASP 0177~Server.CreateObject Failed~8007007e

    Error Source:Server object

Workaround: Restart the IIS process on the Financial Management Web server.

  • 13650082 -- When Financial Management is running on a Windows 2008 Server, an "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion" error may occur.

Workaround: Use Group Policy Editor and expand the tree to Computer Configuration, then Administrative Templates, then System, and then UserProfiles. Change the option for "Do not forcefully unload the user registry at user logoff" to "Enabled", and then reboot the machine for the change to take effect.

  • 13742721 -- When using DB2 as the Financial Management database and SSL as the database communication protocol, Financial Management may fail to connect to the database.

Workaround: On all applications and Web servers, create two new NT registry values and one UDL file:

    Key name: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management\Server

    Value name: SystemDataLinkFile

    Value type: REG_SZ

    Value: <path to UDL file>

    Value name: UseUDLFile

    Value type: DWORD

    Value: 1

  • 13794174 -- In Internet Explorer 8, if Compatibility View settings are turned on, the following error is displayed when logging in to Financial Management: The current compatibility setting is not supported. Disable Compatibility View before running this web page.

Workaround: Turn off the Compatibility View settings.

  • 13836030 -- Financial Management stops working if the operating system user credentials change.

Workaround: DCOM user credentials are stored with Windows configuration. If you change any DCOM user credentials, then you must re-configure Oracle Hyperion Financial Management DCOM using Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Configurator.

FDM

  • 14057387 -- When installing Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management Web only in a distributed environment, the Start menu for Web Configuration Manager is incomplete.

Workaround: To fix the Start menu, do the following:

    1. Right-click WebConfigManager.exe.

    2. Select Create Shortcut, and direct the shortcut to a location under <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>\products\FinancialDataQuality\WebServerComponents\WebConfigManager.

Set the title of the shortcut to be Configure FDM Web Application.

    3. Set the target to <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>\products\FinancialDataQuality\WebServerComponents\WebConfigManager\WebConfigManagerDM.exe.

Provider Services

  • 13423478 -- When starting Oracle Hyperion Provider Services Web reports on IBM Websphere, the following exception is displayed in the startup log file: Cannot call 'cleanup' on a ManagedConnection.

Workaround: Apply IBM Fix Pack 7.0.0.23 (estimated release date is May of 2012).
