This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracle Hyperion Financial Management. Review this Readme thoroughly before installing Financial Management.
See the Oracle Hyperion Financial Management New Features. For new features relating to installation, architecture, and deployment changes in this release, see "New Features" in the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Readme.
Beginning with this release, the Windows client can only be used for these features: Metadata Manager and Profile Manager. These items are now only available offline and have been updated to support configurable dimensionality. The Win32 components can be installed separately as standalone tools to any computer without installing the Financial Management Server components. It is recommended to use Oracle Hyperion EPM Architect, or for Classic applications, use the Web interface.
Late-breaking information about installation of Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System products is provided in the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Readme. Review this information thoroughly before installing EPM System products.
If you use Oracle Database Client 10.2.x or 11.1.x for Financial Management, you must set the StmtCacheSize registry setting for Oracle OLE DB to 10 on all Financial Management application servers and Web servers. This is due to a memory issue in Oracle Provider for OLE DB. The registry setting path is: Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Oracle\Key_Homename\Oledb. Note that the 11.2.x Oracle Database Client should not be changed.
To resolve the high memory usage, enable Statement Caching. The configured value must not be zero. The recommended value is between and 1 and 10.
Edit the registry value: Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Oracle\Key_Homename\Oledb Value Name: StmtCacheSize Value (decimal):1, where Key_Homename refers to the appropriate Oracle Home.
Stop and restart the Financial Management application processes.
In addition, if you are using System 11 on a 64-bit operating system with a 10g database, the Oracle OLE provider on all Financial Management servers must be at least 10.2.0.4.21+.
If you are using 32-bit with 10g, the Oracle OLE provider version MUST be at or greater than the database server version. If you are running 32-bit or 64-bit and using 220.127.116.11 or 18.104.22.168 OLE Provider, you must upgrade to Oracle Database Client 22.214.171.124.33+.

You can upgrade to EPM System Release 126.96.36.199 from the following releases:
Note: For instructions to upgrade, see the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide,"Upgrading EPM System Products."
Table 1. Table
|Release Upgrade Path From||To|
Note that when moving from Release 188.8.131.52.x or 184.108.40.206.x to Release 220.127.116.11, you use the "Apply Maintenance Release" option in Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installer, instead of following the documented upgrade procedures.
For Financial Close Management, applying the maintenance release is supported only from Release 18.104.22.168.
Note: If you were using Performance Management Architect Release 9.3.1, you can download the Oracle Hyperion Shared Services release 9.3.3 from My Oracle Support.
A release earlier than Release 9.3.3.x
If you are upgrading from a release earlier than 9.3.3.x, you must first upgrade to a supported release and then upgrade to release 22.214.171.124. For upgrade procedures for the earlier release, see the product installation guides for the interim release that you are upgrading to.
An environment that includes multiple releases, which can include an environment with one instance of Shared Services or an environment with two instances of Shared Services
See "Upgrading from an Environment with Multiple Releases" in the "Upgrading EPM System Products" chapter in the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide.
Note: If you are starting from Release 126.96.36.199+, 9.3.0.x, 9.3.1.x (except for Oracle Essbase 188.8.131.52.1, 184.108.40.206, 220.127.116.11, and 18.104.22.168), or 11.1.1.x, Oracle recommends that you upgrade to Release 22.214.171.124 as your interim release. If you are starting from an earlier release, Oracle recommends that you upgrade to the highest level release that directly supports upgrade from your starting release. Security Synchronization between Essbase and Shared Services was removed in Essbase Release 9.3, starting with Release 126.96.36.199.1. Essbase and Shared Services Release 188.8.131.52, however, still synchronize security information. For this reason, if you are using Essbase Release 184.108.40.206.1, 220.127.116.11, 18.104.22.168, or 22.214.171.124, you must first upgrade all products to Release 9.3.3, instead of Release 126.96.36.199.
If you are coming from Release 188.8.131.52 or 184.108.40.206, use the Defects Fixed Finder tool to review the list of defects fixed between those releases and Release 220.127.116.11. This tool is available here:

13456823 - When loading documents, Intercompany reports that are not supported are still appearing.
12421119 - Loading labels that have descriptions more than 80 characters in length is not validated during the metadata scan and causes errors to occur when loading metadata.
The following issues are the noteworthy known issues of this release.
These features have been disabled for this release due to known issues stated below, but will be re-enabled in the next release.
13738633 - The Equity Pickup features are disabled for this release.
13738640 - The Intercompany Transaction features are disabled for this release.
13738629 - The Taskflow feature does not work for applications with extended dimensions, however, it works for applications with four custom dimensions.
13816644 - An application must have symmetry of periods at the base level in the Period dimension, or an error occurs.
If you do not properly shut down Financial Management, temporary files may remain upon reboot. To ensure optimal performance, delete all *.db.* filenames from the Server Working Folder before launching Financial Management.
If you do not allow enough space in the initial creation of the relational database tables, you can create applications, but not open or delete them. To create database tables, refer to your database guide.
13903470 - The URL for the Web Server is no longer required on the Application Creation screen.
13903506 - The ampersand (&) character is not a supported character for an application label.
To run Calculation logic on the Value dimension Adjustment members, you must enable the AllowAdjs entity attribute. Otherwise, the entity may not change to an OK status.
13903532 - You may encounter an issue with not being able to open applications with certain MBCS naming patterns in an Oracle database. Double-byte characters require two bytes to be stored in Oracle. This means that an nvarchar2 field ten characters in size does not support ten double-byte characters, thus you cannot create applications with more than five international characters.
9388078 - If your database is taken offline and then brought back online, you must reboot your Financial Management system.
To access Financial Management Administrator menu items and functions in Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management Workspace, you must be assigned the Financial Management Administrator role or the Financial Management Application Creator role.
13903569 - You must be assigned the Project Manager global security role to delete a Financial Management application in both Classic and Performance Management Architect applications. If you do not have this role, the application does not successfully delete.
7638942, 7834482 - If you use an Oracle database, certain Financial Management application name characters may prevent you from creating applications, or you may receive an error that the application does not exist. Do not use the Turkish "I" or the German "sharp ess" in application names.
13816644 - You must have symmetry of periods at the base level in the @ periods dimension.
When running a consolidation, the following error may occur: "An unknown error has occurred in the HsvData2 object" with a description of: "Value violated the integrity constraints for a column or table" and the following problem: "Cannot insert duplicate key in object". To resolve this error, delete invalid records. For the procedure, see the Oracle Hyperion Financial Management Administrator's Guide.
When you use the Copy Application Utility, you must create a data link connection file (UDL). For instructions, see the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide.
8710677 - If you do not select a POV before executing the Clear Data function, the system displays an error message that the POV is invalid and that you must select a Value dimension member. If this message occurs, select a POV, then execute Clear Data.
The behavior of the "FilterInvalidRecords" registry setting has changed. Previously when records were loaded into sub-cube memory, this filter checked if all individual members were valid in a particular record. The filter now includes an additional check for the validity of the combination of all the members (Intersection) in a particular record.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management\Server\FilterInvalidRecords
This registry setting now accepts three values:
0 -Both filters are turned OFF.
1 -Only the invalid member filter is ON.
2 -Both invalid member and Invalid intersection filters are ON.
13810810 - You can filter the list of documents using criteria such as Document Type, Document File Type, or Document Category. Document Category is only available to users with Admin security rights. If the check box “Show Other User's Private Documents” is selected, the Admin user can see other users' documents in the Manage Documents page.
13810801 - When loading documents, to select a folder, you can change the path in the default section of the Load Documents page, or change the path for each individual document that you want to load.
Financial Management prevents users from loading a custom document in override mode with the same name as an already loaded document with a security class to which they do not have access. The error message displays: "Load of document Failed. Document already exists in the system. Cannot overwrite."
A text document (*.txt) containing German keyboard characters does not retain its original contents after it is loaded into a Financial Management application. You must extract the files and view them in your native viewer, for example, Notepad or Wordpad.
13808541 - In Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management ERP Integration Adapter for Oracle Applications, when you try to register Financial Management applications with multi-byte characters, errors occur.
For Classic applications, only one language is supported. The default language selected in the ERP Integrator application registration screen is used to populate the first language in the Financial Management language list. It is possible that the default ERP Integrator language is English, the first Financial Management language is French, and the English member description is pushed to French in Financial Management. It is important to make sure that this is correctly set in ERP Integrator.
For EPMA-enabled applications, ten languages are supported for Financial Management. However, the case-sensitivity for languages still applies. Languages must match exactly. Note that the default selection in the target application registration screen is ignored and ERP Integrator attempts to find a match between the ERP Integrator list and the alias member list from Oracle Hyperion EPM Architect.
ERP Integrator is case-sensitive when loading metadata. Source systems may allow the creation and maintenance of the same member in different cases, so CORP and Corp could both reside in the source. In ERP Integrator, these would be different members, but this is not supported in Financial Management.
Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management ERP Integration Adapter for Oracle Applications and source ERPs support special characters in member labels, such as "-" and "/". Financial Management does not support these characters for member labels.
Exchange rates are not interfaced directly into Financial Management, and users must manually select them from the AIF_HS_EXCHANGE_RATES table and manually insert them into Financial Management.
Extended Analytics functionality is now part of the Extract Data process. There are also changes to the Extended Analytics configuration. See the Oracle Hyperion Financial Management Administrator's Guide for details.
13903703 - Cell text and line item detail are not written to the star schema.
13903765 - An issue exists with Financial Management metadata export/import to an Oracle Essbase database through Oracle Essbase Integration Services. Extended Analytics doesn't use metadata in the same order that it displays in the Financial Management application because of an additional field for Financial member order, which is missing.
13635112 - Multiple data extracts can cause the system to slow down. It is recommended that you limit data access to parent level members based on security role access.
13604047 - If your application contains only three Custom dimensions, errors may occur during data extract.
If you are using the 64-bit version of Financial Management, a defect in the IBM DB2 9.5 and 9.7 client software may prevent Financial Management from working with the DB2 database. The issue is in the database OLEDB Provider that prevents updating data to the database. For details, see the DB2 defect JR32605. The defect has been fixed in the DB2 9.5 Fix Pack 5 client software, so Oracle recommends using the DB2 9.5 version.
13727929 - Due to a bug in the Error Handler objects, when using DB2 as the Financial Management database, no records are written to the database HFM_ERRORLOG table. Informationals, warnings and errors are only written to the local HsvEventLog.log file and the MS Windows NT Application log.
Workaround: Configure the Financial Management system to use a UDL file rather than storing the Database Connection information in the Hyperion installation registry. Contact Oracle Support for information on using this workaround.
13742721 - When you are using DB2 as the Financial Management database and using SSL as the DB communication protocol, Financial Management may fail to connect to the database. If this problem occurs, use the following method to allow Financial Management to connect to the database.
Workaround: On all application and Web servers, you must create two new NT registry values and one UDL file to allow Financial Management to connect to the DB2 database. Key name: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management\Server. Value name: SystemDataLinkFile, Value type: REG_SZ, Value: path to UDL file. Value name: UseUDLFile, Value type: DWORD Value:: 1.
The loading of the following reports is not supported in this release: ICT Match By Account Report, ICT Match By Transaction ID Report, ICT Matching Templates, ICT Transaction Reports.
13631814 - In a journal template, if you try to save to an existing journal label, an unspecified error message occurs.
In Organization by Period applications, if you select inactive child-parent combinations, an "invalid parent or child/parent combination" or "invalid entity" error message is displayed.
When you assign security rights to users for journal creation, you should assign users access to Create Journals and Read Journals.
13903762 - The filtering for journal templates within journal tasks is not supported for sorting of entities.
11769013 - When loading data using the Replace mode and data exists for subsequent periods, the next month's periodic value is accumulated instead of replaced. In this case, reload the data using the same View in the data file as the default view of the scenario, for example, YTD. When loading an interim period, also include and load all subsequent periods in the same data file.
14143195 - If you try to create an application that has more than one language of varying character sets, the characters do not display correctly in the Win32 components (Manage Metadata and Profile Creation). As a workaround for this issue, you can use Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management Architect (EPMA), or if you want to use the Win32 client, you must install to display multibyte characters on a double-byte OS, or use a corresponding native language OS for non-ASCII characters.
7659574 - When you perform a Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Lifecycle Management export operation on a Financial Management application, if the exported content is incorrect and Unicode characters are removed, make sure that Save all files in Unicode format is set for the source application.
12815856 - During a metadata load with a referential check, the system may provide an incorrect error when a Custom top member is renamed, or when a Custom top member is moved from one parent to another if there are existing journals referencing the children of these affected members.
The following database settings are recommended when using Oracle databases with Financial Management:
OPEN_CURSORS=5000 - needed to allow for larger transactions (as well as ODBC support)
PROCESSES= (whatever is needed to support the expected number of applications and application servers), based on numbers derived from the Installation guide section titled "Database Connection Pooling".
To improve performance in Oracle, the DBA should run statistics on the ICTTransactions table. There are a variety of utilities and commands available to perform this task. Following is a sample of one of the commands that you can use: ANALYZE TABLE APPNAME_ICT_TRANSACTIONS COMPUTE STATISTICS.
Oracle 11.1.2.x databases use a Deferred_Segment_Creation feature that is enabled by default in all installations. A table is created only after a row of data is inserted. If you use the Export (EXP) utility to back up your database, any table that does not contain rows will not exist in the report (for example, metadata DESC tables) and Financial Management may not start against a restored database due to the tables being missing.
You can disable this feature by logging in to your instance using SYSTEM or SYS and change the setting to force tables to be created automatically. Issue the command:
Alter system set deferred_segment_creation=false;
Any table created after issuing this statement will be created automatically. If you already have an instance with empty tables and want to export the application, you can alter each table individually to force creation and allow the table to be used by the EXP (export) command. Issue the following command for each empty table:
Alter table <table_name> allocate extent;
If Process Management was included in a tasklist from a prior version, when you select Process Management, you are redirected to the new Process Control page. You should remove the old reference and replace it with the new Process Control module.
The Rules Editor is no longer provided. A text editor can be used to create and edit the rules file. An Add-In is provided for the Notepad ++ text editor to provide text color-coding similar to the Rules Editor.
Note: The current text editor Add-In for Notepad++ will incorrectly color-code any string following “HS”.
13735530 - It may take up to 20 minutes the CASSecurity process to exit after all users are disconnected from the server. This timeout value can be changed by modifying the Security Timeout registry setting.
Navigate to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management\JavaInterop.
Set the DWORD CASSecurityTimeout (value in seconds). The default value is 20 minutes (1200 seconds).
13888534 - When configuring Financial Close Management with SiteMinder, when you click on Consolidation Administration in EPM Workspace, an error message is displayed. Workaround: Do not configure hfmAppServiceAppPool with SiteMinder.
Additionally, the EPM Security Guide contains some errors and omissions concerning SSO settings for Financial Management:
The following resources should not be protected (the Security Guide lists them as resources to be protected): /hfmlcmserver /hfmsmartviewprovider /hfmlcmservice
The following resource should be protected. This information is missing from the guide: /hfmadf
The following additional resources must be unprotected: /oracle-epm-fm-webservices /hfmlcmservice
13630839 - If Financial Management is installed on IIS7 (Windows 7 or 2008), session errors occur if you connect through Smart View.
371557 - Account lists are not supported for Intercompany Matching Reports.
The Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher templates provided with the installation contain a fixed number of columns. To add more columns, perform these steps:
Use BI Publisher version 184.108.40.206 to create the templates.
Make sure that you have BI Publisher Desktop installed and configured with Microsoft Office Word.
Open the template in Microsoft Office Word and copy any existing column and paste the column at the end.
Double-click on the fields to open the script and modify as needed.
To preview the changes, click Preview Template, then PDF, HTML, RTF, XLS from the BI Publisher menu.
Refer to the BI Publisher documentation for more details.
Using 64-bit Financial Management and running system reports using Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher may result in an Access Denied error. To resolve this issue, perform these steps:
Use a domain account for the Financial Management Web Server and Financial Management Application Server. On the IIS 6 Web Server, set the Application Pool identity to the domain user, and set the appropriate permissions on the following directories:
C:\windows\help\iishelp\common: Read and Execute, List Folder Contents, Read
C:\windows\system32\inetsrv\ASP Compiled Templates: Full Control
C:\windows\IIS Temporary Compressed: Full Control
This user must also be added to the IIS_WPG group.
13856695 - If an application has more than 25 task lists in a folder, task lists cannot be opened. Reorganize tasklists within folders so that there are no more than 25 items in the expanded list.
There is an issue with the “@Cur” keyword in Web Data Forms when used with a Custom dimension. The form will load successfully but will not open successfully. An error message will be generated when trying to open the form.
13828742 - The Export to Excel Export to Excel and Import from Excel options are no longer available from Web Data Forms. If you want to view Web Data Forms with Microsoft Excel, you can use Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office.
13778325 - In a Web Data Form, you can override the POV selection. For example, to override it with a different account, you specify A#newaccount. You can also use these values or options with a POV override: 1 - Blank, NumDecimals, ReadOnly, SCalc, Scale, String, or Style.
13684999 - For the Scalc keyword, the syntax C1+C2 is no longer supported.
