The documentation for JAX-WS 2.0 as well as the sample applications will be periodically updated in the JAX-WS project on Java.net.
Please go to http://jax-ws.dev.java.net for the latest documentation and samples.
Requires JDK 5.0 Update 2 or later
Requires Ant 1.6.2 or later
Requires Sun Java System Application Server 8.1 UR1 (Application Server) or later (if you intend to deploy Web service endpoints)
This release implements the JavaTMfor XML Web Services 2.0 Specification.
Implementation of Java SE based Endpoints
The following applies to the JAX-WS standalone bundles. If you have installed JAX-WS as part of the JWSDP, then installation is complete.
Once the JAX-WS 2.0 Beta bundle is extracted, it needs to be installed
on the
Application Server. Make sure AS_HOME
is set to the installation
directory of the Application Server. You need to invoke ANT_HOME/bin/ant install
command from the root directory of the extracted bundle to install
JAX-WS 2.0
binaries on the Application Server. However this step is
required
if you intend to build and deploy a Web service on the Application
Server.
If you intend to only invoke an already existing Web service, then
alternatively you can use the wsimport
and wsgen
scripts in the bin
directory of the JAX-WS 2.0 Beta bundle.
This holds true for different releases of the JAX-WS RI. The JAX-WS RI may in each release change these file names to resolve bugs. If and when this does occur, a developer would need to change the filenames in their customization files to match the new file names.
For white papers and the latest JAX-WS technology and documentation, go to http://jax-ws.dev.java.net.
Please use the JAXB 2.0 and JAXWS 2.0 forum for feedback.
Any FCS version of JAX-WS will ship a 181 maintenance compliant jsr181-api.jar file.
