Tuning the number of available socket readers

You can improve the performance of socket communication by configuring the proper number of socket readers for each server instance and client machine.

To configure the number of socket readers:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the left pane of the Console, expand Environment > Servers.
  3. On the Summary of Servers page, select the server instance for which you will configure the number of available socket readers.
  4. Select Configuration > Tuning and update Socket Readers.

The value of this parameter is the percentage of execute threads from the self-tuning thread pool that can be used as socket readers. This value can not exceed 50% of the thread pool. The default value is 33.

  5. Click Save.
  6. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).

After you finish

You must reboot the server to use the new stuck thread detection behavior values.
