14.17 InnoDB INFORMATION_SCHEMA Tables

14.17.1 Information Schema Tables about Compression
14.17.2 Information Schema Tables about Transactions
14.17.3 Special Locking Considerations for InnoDB INFORMATION_SCHEMA Tables

The INFORMATION_SCHEMA is a MySQL feature that provides access to database metadata.

This section provides information and usage examples for a subset of InnoDB-related INFORMATION_SCHEMA tables related to compression, transactions, and locking. For a complete list of InnoDB INFORMATION_SCHEMA tables, see Section 21.28, “INFORMATION_SCHEMA Tables for InnoDB.

The INFORMATION_SCHEMA tables are themselves plugins to the MySQL server, and must be activated by INSTALL statements. If they are installed, but the InnoDB storage engine plugin is not installed, these tables appear to be empty.
