To Perform a Firmware upgrade Task With SIA Using Local or Remote Media

  1. Start SIA using one of these methods:

    • Insert the SIA CD into the server dongle’s CD/DVD drive and power on or reboot the server.

    • Use a browser to log in to the server’s ILOM service processor via your KVMS and use the Remote Control --> Launch Redirection feature to redirect the server to a network-accessible virtual CD-ROM that contains the SIA CD image. Reboot the server. Be sure to direct the server to boot from your virtual CD-ROM (typically done using the F8 menu during server boot).

  2. Once started, follow the screens until you reach the Task Selection page.

An example of the Task Selection page is shown below. The tasks listed are server-dependant and only those supported by your server and installed hardware will be available.

Figure showing SIA Task Selection screen.
  3. Select the task to perform, either System BIOS and ILOM, or HBA firmware upgrade and click Next.

Follow the instructions in the successive screens.

Note - You might be able to perform both upgrade tasks during the same SIA session. If you finish the SP firmware and system BIOS upgrade without being asked to reboot, click the Back button repeatedly until you return to the Task Selection screen. If you finish the first task and are asked to reboot, make sure that you leave the SIA media in place and reboot to SIA.
