The C_INIT(1M) built-in command, umask, is used to
display or set the file creation mask for C_INIT
. The mask is inherited by all c_actors
spawned using the arun command.
If no mode is specified, the current value of the mask is displayed. The initial default value is 22.
The mode is expressed in octal form: ooo. The three octal digits refer to the read, write and execute permissions for the owner, group and other users, respectively. See chmod(2POSIX) and umask(2POSIX) for details. The value of each specified digit is subtracted from the corresponding "digit" specified by the system for file creation. For example, the mask 022 removes write permission for group and other users; files normally created using mode 777 take mode 755; files created using mode 666 take mode 644.
