Preface

The Solaris 10 Sun Hardware Platform Guide contains important information about the Sun hardware supported by the Solaris trademark 10 Operating System. This document describes installation resources, SPARC® platform types, and the current location of software formerly found on the Supplement CD.

This edition includes additional information about the Solaris 10 1/06, Solaris 10 3/05 HW1, and Solaris 10 3/05 HW2 releases.

Typographic Conventions

Typeface^[1]	Meaning	Examples
`AaBbCc123`	The names of commands, files, and directories; on-screen computer output	Edit your `.login` file. Use `ls` `-a` to list all files. `% You have mail.`
`AaBbCc123`	What you type, when contrasted with on-screen computer output	`%` `suPassword:`
AaBbCc123	Book titles, new words or terms, words to be emphasized. Replace command-line variables with real names or values.	Read Chapter 6 in the User's Guide. These are called class options. To delete a file, type `rm` filename.
