Some typed characters might be dropped on single CPU W1100x workstations if you type too fast. 

Solution  

Perform the following steps:

1. Edit the following file /boot/grub/menu.lst.

2. Add "acpi=off" to the list of options for the Java Desktop System session as in the following example:

   title Java Desktop System kernel (hd0,5)/boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda6 vga=0x31a selinux=0

   splash=silent

   resume=/dev/hda5 elevator=cfq showopts acpi=off

   initrd (hd0,5)/boot/initrd
