Restriction for the Location of Informix Files

You need to keep these restrictions in mind while planning the installation and configuration of Sun Cluster HA for Informix.

• Informix binary files – You need to place the INFORMIXDIR directory on a shared storage such as a cluster file system or a highly available local file system.

  Alternatively, you can install Informix locally on each node. In this case, the INFORMIXDIR directory will reflect a local file system.

  If you decide to install Informix locally on each node, you must ensure that the ONCONFIG and INFORMIXSQLHOSTS files are kept in synchronization across the cluster nodes.

• Informix database files – You must ensure that the Informix database files are placed on a shared storage. You can use a highly available local file system, cluster file system, or raw devices.
