Logical Components Placed in Secure Access Zones

This figure displays the following from top to bottom: Internet zone, Internal Access zone (intranet), External Access zone (DMZ), Secure zone (Back-end).

There is a firewall between the Internal Access and the Internet zone DBM. There is a firewall between the External Access zone and both the Internal Access zone and the Internet zone. There is a firewall between the Secure Zone and the Internal Access zone.

The Internal Access zone contains representative mail clients and browser-based clients.

The External Access zone contains the following components: Portal Server SRA, Portal Server Mobile Access, Messaging Server MMP, Messaging Server MTA, Directory Proxy Server, Application Server (with load balancer).

The Secure zone contains the following components: Portal Server, Access Manager, Messaging Server STR, Directory Server, Application Server.
