Chapter 1 What's New in This Release

This document summarizes new features and changes to the Sun B2B Suite at release 5.1.1.

About the Sun B2B Suite

The Sun B2B Suite provides an integrated B2B platform for automating trading partner management, transaction visibility, and full-cycle transaction auditing in both enterprise and extranet environments, based on open standards. The Sun B2B Suite provides the following capabilities.

• Trading-partner management

• Message tracking and auditing

• Third-party message validation services integration via Standards-based protocols

• Standards-based security services

• LDAP-based directory server

• Add-on components for business activity monitoring/business intelligence

eXchange Integrator is the integration framework that provides core functions and features for the other products in the Sun B2B Suite. eXchange is tightly integrated with Java CAPS and it runs as a component within the Java CAPS environment. eXchange Integrator is the prerequisite base product for all products in the Sun B2B Suite.

This section provides information about product name changes for applications that the software supports.

New Features

Platform Enhancements

This section provides information about general enhancements to the Sun B2B Suite.

• Retry and Batching are now DB based B2B services

• Sun B2B Suite applications and protocols run on both Java CAPS 5.1.2 and 5.1.3

Supported Protocols

The Sun B2B Suite now supports the following protocols.

• AS2 with Secure Message Extensions (SME)

• ebXML with encryption based on the ebMS 2.0 specification

  ebXML is supported on 5.1.3 only.

• HIPAA with either the EDIFECS or the Foresight validation engine

• ASC X12 Protocol Manager

Supported OTD Libraries

The Sun B2B Suite now supports the following OTD libraries.

• ASC X12

• HIPAA

• UN/EDIFACT

Supportability

• B2B Developer Forums, error message descriptions, detailed design documents, and white papers are available on the Web at http://jcaps-b2b.dev.java.net.

• Sun University B2B Training will be available in first quarter of 2008.

Documentation Changes

This section describes new and revised documentation.

• The Sun B2B Suite eXchange User's Guide contains various technical corrections and structural improvements.

• The Sun B2B Suite AS2 Protocol Manager User's Guide is new for this release.

• The Sun B2B Suite ebXML Protocol Manager User's Guide is new for this release.

  Note –

  The initial edition of the Sun B2B Suite ebXML Protocol Manager User's Guide does not match the final version of the product. This guide will be updated and republished by January, 2008.

• The Sun B2B Suite UN/EDIFACT OTD Library User's Guide is new for this release.

• The Sun B2B Suite HIPAA Protocol Manager User's Guide has been expanded to contain material on the new validation engine.
