Appendix D Mapping Traditional Chinese Keyboard Functions

This appendix shows how to configure a Sun Chinese keyboard to make selected key functions when you need them.

The Chinese Type-4 keyboard does not have a Compose key. You can use the xmodmap command to make any key function as Compose. In the following example, the right Meta key ([diams ]) is set to function as the Compose key:

system% xmodmap -e "remove mod1 = Meta_R"
system% xmodmap -e "keysym Meta_R = Multi_key"

See the $OPENWINHOME/share/etc/keytables/Taiwan4.kt file and the xmodmap(1) man page for more information.

The Chinese Type-5 keyboard does not have an AltGraph key. You can use the xmodmap command to make any key function as AltGraph. In the following example, the right Meta key ([diams ]) is set to function as the AltGraph key:

system% xmodmap -e "remove mod1 = Meta_R"
system% xmodmap -e "keysym Meta_R = Mode_switch"

See the $OPENWINHOME/share/etc/keytables/Taiwan5.kt file and the xmodmap(1) man page for more information.
