Context-Sensitive Meanings

A single error message may have slightly different meanings depending on which part of various naming software applications generated the message. For example, when a "Not Found" type message is generated by the nisls command, it means that there are no NIS+ objects that have the specified name, but when it is generated by the nismatch command it means that no table entries were found that meet the search criteria.
