You can access the Solaris Device Configuration Assistant for booting a system running the Solaris x86 Platform Edition in the following ways:
If your system's BIOS supports booting from a DVD or a CD, you can boot from the Solaris 9 DVD, the Solaris 9 Installation CD, or the Solaris 9 Software 1 of 2 CD. The following information provides additional details about booting from a CD or a DVD:
If you have a DVD drive, boot from the Solaris installation DVD.
If you have a CD drive, consider the following:
If your system's BIOS or SCSI controller supports logical block addressing (LBA), you can boot from any Solaris installation CD.
If your system does not support LBA, you must boot from the Solaris 9 Software 1 of 2 CD.

If your system supports the Pre-boot eXecution Environment (PXE), you can boot from a net installation image of the Solaris release.
You can boot from a diskette by doing one of the following:
Download and copy the Device Configuration Assistant software from the Solaris Developer Connection at http://soldc.sun.com/support/drivers/dca_diskettes.
Copy the Device Configuration Assistant software from the Solaris 9 x86 Platform Edition DVD or the Solaris 9 Software 2 of 2 x86 Platform Edition CD by using the procedure in “Copying the Boot Software to a Diskette” in Solaris 9 Installation Guide.
