Installing in a chroot EnvironmentA Sun Java™ System Access Manager installation in a chroot (changed root) environment is based on the chroot function of the Solaris™ Operating System. When Access Manager is installed in a chroot environment, a named directory becomes the new root directory. The new chroot directory then becomes the starting point in the path for the Access Manager installation.
A chroot environment can prevent malicious programs from accessing the actual root file system, providing an added measure of security for the Access Manager environment.
Setting up chroot environment can be complicated, depending on the specific requirements of your deployment. If you need to install and run Access Manager in a chroot environment, contact your Sun Microsystems technical representative for assistance.
