For specific instructions on installing and cabling servers or equipment in the rack, refer to the equipment documentation.
Obey all cautions and guidelines found in the rack and equipment documentation.
Attach an antistatic wrist strap and take antistatic precautions whenever handling and installing electronic equipment.
Ensure that the rack is stabilized using either the mounting brackets or the leveling feet.
Caution - To reduce the risk of personal injury, always ensure that the rack is adequately stabilized before extending a component outside the rack. A rack might become unstable and tip over if more than one component is extended for any reason.
Always extend the anti-tilt legs whenever installing or servicing equipment in the rack.
Always install the heaviest equipment first from the bottom of the rack up.
Caution - To reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to the equipment, always load the heaviest item first from the bottom of the rack up. This arrangement makes the rack bottom-heavy and helps prevent the rack from becoming unstable.
Equipment weighing 80 lbs (36.2 Kg) or more must be installed within the bottom 10 RU (17.5 in./445 mm) of the rack.
Extend only one piece of equipment at a time. Secure a component into the rack completely before installing another component.
Whenever possible, use a mechanical lift to lift and position equipment when installing it into the rack. Otherwise, get help before attempting to lift heavy equipment.
Ensure that installed equipment or cables do not impede the air flow through the rack.
Never exceed the maximum allowable weight of installed equipment in the rack.
Make sure that your installation adequately protects equipment from excessive vibration and shock. Do not attach external devices or machinery to the rack that create excessive vibration. The vibration can damage sensitive equipment installed inside the rack.
Select the appropriate rack for the equipment you plan to install. For large equipment, or equipment that requires a large amount of space for cabling, select the deeper Sun Rack II 1242.
